With over 15 years of experience, Mr. Murali has built a successful career in general management, encompassing a wide range of business areas, including strategy, marketing, technology transition, and supply chain management. Since 2024, he has served as a senior supply chain leader at Mortenson. In this role, he directly supervises a high performing team and managing the supply chain process from sourcing to procurement for consumables, indirect materials and travel. He is responsible for driving strategic spending, negotiating with suppliers, enhancing profitability, and utilizing ERP systems and technology to optimize procurement processes.
Mr. Murali’s background also includes various roles at Mortenson, starting as director of strategy and business development, before progressing to lead innovation and subsequently spearheading digital transformation for supply chain and procurement. Before joining Mortenson, he worked at Eastman Chemical Company, where he held several positions, including corporate strategy manager, marketing excellence manager, global product and pricing manager, and market insight and strategy manager, as part of their commercial development program. Mr. Murali’s career began as deputy manager of marketing at Ashok Leyland, one of India’s leading commercial vehicles manufacturers, where he led cross-functional teams to develop innovative service products.
Mr. Murali earned a Master of Business Administration in consulting, marketing, and operations management from the Kenan-Flagler Business School at UNC Chapel Hill in 2013. He has also held a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from PSG College of Technology in India since 2007.
Beyond his professional career, Mr. Murali has volunteered his expertise as a marketing and strategy consultant for several nonprofit organizations and is actively engaged in community work, including with Habitat for Humanity. In his personal life, he enjoys spending quality time with his family and has a passion for playing cricket and volleyball. He attributes his success to perseverance, bold decision-making, strategic thinking, and a willingness to take calculated risks to drive results.
