Michael Robert Uthe, Technology Sales Manager at Mueller Water Products, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in Utilities.
Mr. Uthe, distinguished for his expertise in the utilities, energy and resources and engineering sectors, has been affiliated with Mueller Water Products since 2023 as the western U.S. manager for the smart water technologies team. His role comes after serving as the organization’s northwest area manager from 2019 to 2023 and strategic account executive in 2019.
In his current position, Mr. Uthe focuses on assisting municipalities and engineers provide clean water to their customers with minimal losses. He is also tasked with addressing aging water infrastructure across the U.S. and various advancements in battery technology and artificial intelligence. Throughout his tenure with Mueller Water Products, Mr. Uthe has gone from covering eight states in the northwest to 25.
Mr. Uthe joined Mueller Water Products when the company decided to launch a new technology division. Based in Atlanta, he became the first employee to work in Montana. Requiring a lot of self-motivation, he had to develop a strong and structured daily routine to remain on task and succeed.
Before being acquired by Mueller Water Products, Mr. Uthe was a sales engineer at Advanced Pump and Equipment from 2016 to 2019, where he sold and designed engineered water and wastewater systems throughout the northwest portion of the U.S. He also worked for Hyalite Engineers PLLC as a project engineer in 2016 and as a field engineer for ONEOK, focusing on oil and gas transportation in North Dakota, between 2015 and 2016.
Mr. Uthe is highly educated, having received a Bachelor of Science in petroleum engineering with a minor in business management from Montana Tech in 2014 and a Master of Engineering from Montana State University in 2020. While pursuing his degrees, he garnered added expertise through production and drilling internships with Chevron in 2013 and 2014.
Influenced by his family’s background in oil and gas, particularly his father and grandfather who both worked in the industry, Mr. Uthe initially studied petroleum engineering in college. In time, however, he realized that petroleum engineering was not his true passion. After acquired his first position at a firm specializing in water and wastewater services, he found the work to be fascinating.
Recognizing his commitments to the industry, Mr. Uthe is a member of the American Water Works Association. He also serves on the public outreach committee for a water works organization in Montana, where he is involved in raising awareness about the essential role of the water industry.
Besides his work-related activities, Mr. Uthe enjoys giving back to worthy causes as a dedicated leader in his community. Since 2017, he has been serving as a foster parent for the Heart of the Valley Animal Shelter. He has also been volunteering with the Montana Raptor Conservation Center and Big Brothers and Big Sisters of America since 2017 and 2018, respectively. Moreover, Mr. Uthe is the president and founder of the Frisbee Golf Club.
In recognition of his professional success, Mueller Water Products honored Mr. Uthe as the Salesperson of the Year twice. His expertise in the field has been pivotal to his success. He also credits his personal drive that has been essential in his role. In the coming years, Mr. Uthe aims to influence his company’s direction, while raising awareness about pressing issues beyond his industry.
