Sajid Ishaq Sandhu, President of Interfaith League Against Poverty (I-LAP-US), has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in Human Rights.

Mr. Sandhu, a dedicated human rights advocate and expert in interfaith harmony and peace initiatives, has led a diverse career, presently serving as the chair of the Interfaith League Against Poverty (I-LAP-US), a national non-government organization, since 2004. Through his leadership and guidance, he has been making a significant impact. Most notably, through various development projects, Mr. Sandu has been instrumental in promoting interfaith harmony and peace in four provinces throughout Pakistan, including KPK, Punjab, Sindh and Baluchistan.

Besides his efforts at I-LAP-US, Mr. Sandhu has been the president and chair of the Pakistan Interfaith League (PIL), an interfaith organization in Pakistan, since 2006. He also chairs HumSub TV, a rights-based web channel that has promoted and upheld peace, interfaith harmony and social responsibility within Pakistan since 2018.

Before these ventures, Mr. Sandhu was affiliated with a political party, beginning in 2012, and subsequently served as an advisor to the former prime minister of Pakistan from 2013 to 2018. In this role, he emphasized the issues faced by Christians and other minorities and was pivotal in creating policies for the party’s minority wing.

Possessing a rich educational background, Mr. Sandhu received a Bachelor of Science in commerce from the University of the Punjab in Pakistan in 1991, a Master of Business Administration from the University of the East in the Philippines in 1995, and a Master of Arts in apologetics from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky, in 2024. Additionally, he completed community development studies at the University of Birmingham, development evaluation studies at Carleton University in Canada, and several additional courses in various other parts of the world.

As a testament to his philanthropic and civic efforts, Mr. Sandhu chaired the fifth largest mosque in the world, Islamabad Rozgar Markaz, from 1995 to 2005, founded the first peace museum in Pakistan, has served as the president of Gideons International and as a council member and treasurer of the Protestant International Church, and, among other involvement, chaired the National Baptist Church.

Throughout his career, Mr. Sandhu’s dedication as a human rights activist has been evident in his contributions to supporting the rights of minorities, including justice for the poor and marginalized, especially religious minorities. He has also extensively fought blasphemy cases to help garner justice for innocent victims. Moreover, Mr. Sandhu has been involved in humanitarian work and disaster relief. Among his most notable accomplishments was his contributions to establishing a school system for over 250 children from underprivileged backgrounds.

Recognized for his endeavors, Mr. Sandhu received an accolade from the Ministry of Minority Affairs for the longstanding struggle for peace and interfaith harmony in the country. He also received the Untiring Peace Efforts Award from the National Network of Interfaith and Peace Pakistan and an Award of Recognition for Human Rights Efforts from the Governor of Pakistan. Furthermore, Fugitive TV Pakistan named him the Journalist of the Year. Besides these accolades, Mr. Sandhu was honored to be invited to attend the first International Religious Freedom by the U.S. State Department.

In anticipation of the future, Mr. Sandhu envisions significantly enhancing international religious freedom. He aims to ensure that small religious minorities in various countries can live freely and receive justice. As such, Mr. Sandhu plans to advocate and lobby at Capitol Hill, where he can influence decision-makers to push for the abolition or amendment of discriminatory laws and to grant equal rights to all citizens, including those in Pakistan.
