Mr. Pimentel Pinto, an established information technology (IT) executive, joined the Texas State Board of Pharmacy in Austin, Texas, in 2024 as its director of IT. In his leading role, he is tasked with the IT strategy and operations of the agency to ensure it can provide superior services to the public through technology. Leveraging two decades of experience, Mr. Pimentel Pinto has become widely recognized for his ability to cultivate high-performance teams and deliver large-scale implementations within the industry.
Before joining the government administration, Mr. Pimentel Pinto was the chief operations officer and chief technology officer (CTO) at The C-Class in Mexico from 2019 to 2024. During that time, he also served as the chief information officer (CIO) and chief engineering officer at MVS Capital in Mexico City between 2019 and 2023.
Mr. Pimentel Pinto began his career as an information systems coordinator at his alma mater, the Universidad Simón Bolívar, in 2006. In 2009, he joined the Attorney General’s Office in Mexico City as the director of data centers, followed by his role as the CIO and CTO at Media Specialists in Mexico City in 2010.
Over the next decade, Mr. Pimentel Pinto continually progressed. He was acquired by Hewlett-Packard Enterprise Services as a program manager between 2010 and 2011, where he was instrumental in forming a PMO based in Mexico for the Global American Express account. From there, Mr. Pimentel Pinto became the CIO and CTO of Mexico’s Graphic Workshops in Mexico City from 2011 to 2014. Subsequently, she served in the same capacity at Grupo Yannini in Mexico City between 2014 and 2015 and Mexican Space Agency in the Mexico City area from 2016 to 2019.
In preparation for his future, Mr. Pimentel Pinto received an undergraduate degree in computer systems and IT from Universidad Simón Bolívar in Mexico City in 2002. Highly qualified in his field, he received numerous professional credentials from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in blockchain, digital transformation, cultural awareness, and other significant areas. He also garnered credentials from Amazon Web Services Inc., OpenExO and AMEST.
To remain at the forefront of the industry, Mr. Pimentel Pinto is a professional member of CIO’s LATAM, CIONET and the CIO Klub. Civically, he co-founded and has served on the board of Unity International since 2019. He previously founded and was active on the advisory board for ONG DreamIT between 2018 and 2019 and was the founder, chief of development, and advisory board member of WiderPool from 2018 to 2019. Besides his work- and civic-related ventures, Mr. Pimentel Pinto is a talented music artist and photographer.
Mr. Pimentel Pinto’s expertise in technology strategy and digital transformation has been pivotal to his success. He has been recognized with several accolades highlighting his accomplishments, including being recognized on the CIO 100 List in Mexico every year between 2019 and 2022, winning second place in NetMedia’s The 50 Most Innovative Ranking in 2022 for his digital transformation project on machine learning, artificial intelligence and cloud computing, and being featured in Forbes Mexico Digital Transformations Geniuses 2022. Mr. Pimentel Pinto attributes his good fortune to his dedication to making a positive difference and achieving the goals that will benefit the most individuals.
