Mr. Jordan began his career in 1974 as a life insurance agent for a local home life insurance company before joining PaineWebber as a national sales manager for insurance projects. Over the years, he became a vice president of insurance sales at the highly regarded investment bank and stock brokerage firm from 1982 to 1988. Mr. Jordan then pivoted when he was recruited by MetLife, a global provider of insurance, annuities, and employee benefit programs, as a vice president of annuity sales. After over a decade in his role, he became a senior vice president for retail product development between 1995 and 2012. Upon his retirement from MetLife, he leveraged his expertise to form JosephJordan.com.
A collegiate football player and graduate of Fordham University in New York City, Mr. Jordan received a Bachelor of Science in business in 1974 and was elected into the Football Hall of Fame on campus. He also received several professional licenses in support of his career. Besides his education, Mr. Jordan has remained at the forefront of his industry as a board member of the American College of Financial Services and as the co-founder of the Insured Retirement Institute. He is also a member of Legatus, a premier organization for Catholic chief executive officers and other executives. Civically, Mr. Jordan engages with the Knights of Columbus and Catholic Big Brothers Big Sisters.
Throughout his professional career in the financial services industry, Mr. Jordan’s key to success was his ability to adapt and innovate. When he first began as an agent, most professionals tended to confine themselves to their specific roles. However, in the 1970s and 1980s, there was a shift toward selling nontraditional products. During his tenure at PaineWebber, Mr. Jordan encouraged stockbrokers to sell insurance. Subsequently, at MetLife, he integrated insurance with investment products.
In light of his success, Mr. Jordan was presented with the coveted John Newton Russell Award in 2023 by the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors. He was also elected into the Insured Retirement Institute Hall of Fame. Mr. Jordan attributes his success to his passion for doing good and his active involvement in the Catholic community.
