Dr. Yazji, a leader in information technology (IT), has been affiliated with Amazon Web Services (AWS) Inc. since 2016. In the past few years, she has risen to become a strategic leader, responsible for understanding the challenges faced by customers, particularly large companies, since 2023. She also focuses on identifying the issues within the supply chain processes and strategizes on ways to help it improve and innovate, including using generative artificial intelligence. Before her tenure at AWS, Dr. Yazji worked in various progressive roles with companies like the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, McDonald’s, Beam and TransUnion LLC. Before joining AWS, she was a consultant and data governance and security leader at Kellogg Company from 2015 to 2016.
Beyond her work in IT, Dr. Yazji has served on the advisory board at Northwestern University since 2018. He also had the opportunity to gain experience in the classroom as a professor at Northern Illinois University from 2015 to 2022. In preparation for her illustrious career, Dr. Yazji received a Bachelor of Science in electronics engineering at Damascus University, a Master of Science in computer engineering at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, and a Doctor of Philosophy in electrical engineering and computer science at Northwestern University. She also secured several professional credentials from AWS and ITIL Foundation v3 certification. Additionally, Dr. Yazji is a member of the CDO Inner Circle, the CISO-Dinner Group, the Network of Executive Women and Think IT.
Attributing her success to her dedication, competitive nature and passion for her work, Dr. Yazji’s expertise in digital and cloud transformation, supply chain, mathematics and physics have also played significant roles in her ability to excel. However, her most notable accomplishment has been her ability to come so far as an immigrant to the U.S. with limited English skills and continuing her education. With over 25 years of experience in technology and nearly a decade at AWS, Dr. Yazji intends to continue adapting to various roles, showcasing her digital and cloud transformation skills and becoming recognized as a leader in her field.
