Ms. Phillips, distinguished for her contributions to philanthropy, is the founder and chief executive officer of Under God’s Care LLC, a nonprofit charitable organization she launched in 2020. Based in Spiro, Oklahoma, she caters to ex-offenders, veterans, senior citizens and others in need of assistance due to common challenges that result from change. As such, Ms. Phillips offers temporary housing where residents can obtain counseling and receive aid for education, education advancement, job placement, and life skills to help them survive independently.
In addition to advocating for the community’s needs, Ms. Phillips has been instrumental in securing funding, including a substantial grant through the HOME-ARP Program to erect housing for the homeless population. She was awarded $2.7 million to help build eight units and a small community center. Throughout her tenure in this sector, Ms. Phillips was also credited for her dedication to revitalizing a small rural community that had experienced substantial decline. Before establishing Under God’s Care LLC, she opened her home to those in need, providing support for the homeless and those grappling with mental health issues or battling cancer.
Earlier in her career, Ms. Phillips was instrumental in the behavioral health field as a behavioral case manager and peer specialist for the State of Oklahoma, assisting individuals with mental health conditions and other struggles. Passionate about restoring hope and providing a new perspective to others, she has always found great rewards from her work. Beyond her work-related endeavors, Ms. Phillips has been affiliated with several other local initiatives, including the Southeast Oklahoma Continuum of Care, the Halfway House Coalition and Feeding America. She has also volunteered with the Hand to Hand Foundation and continues to give back to community events, organizing Thanksgiving turkey dinner giveaways and Christmas toy drives. In light of her dedication to serving others, Ms. Phillips received an Outstanding Citizen of the Community in 2022.
