Mr. Reindel, vice president at Harris Miller Miller & Hanson (HMMH) Inc., has been instrumental in leading his company forward. The international organization, based in Burlington, Massachusetts, is at the forefront of environmental and transportation planning. In his role, M. Reindel conducts community noise measurements of aircraft noise and noise modeling of aircraft operations to determine the noise exposure and sound levels expected throughout communities. He also reviews various reports, assists airports in preparing airport noise compatibility programs in accordance with federal regulations, mentors staff members and attends meetings to address various technical issues.
Beginning his career at Boeing Company in Seattle as a senior test engineer in 1990, Mr. Reindel gained expertise in acoustics and aircraft noise. He then joined HMMH as a senior consultant in 1997, where he initially focused on technical tasks before transitioning into more managerial and client-service-oriented roles. Highly educated for his career in this sector, Mr. Reindel received a Bachelor of Science in engineering physics from Pacific Lutheran University in 1989 and a Master of Science in engineering with a focus on acoustics from Pennsylvania State University in 1995. Aside from his education, he has remained at the forefront of his industry through his membership in the Southwest chapter of the American Association of Airport Executives and the Institute of Noise Control Engineering, as well as serving as the noise chair of the American Association of Airport Executives’ environmental services committee.
Throughout his tenure, Mr. Reindel notes that his most significant accomplishment was successfully addressing community concerns, enabling airports to grow, operate and focus on their business while alleviating the stress of community pressures. Honoring his success, he received a Randy Jones Award for Excellence in 2023 and a Walt Gillfillan Award in 2025. Mr. Reindel attributes much of his success to the importance he places on empathy and the value he puts on relationships. As he prepares for retirement in the next decade, he intends to mentor his replacement while gradually reducing his work hours to a standard 40-hour work week.
