James D. Camp, President and Owner at Metropolitan Home Inspections, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in Engineering.

Mr. Camp, a leader in the engineering and construction sectors, has owned and operated Metropolitan Home Inspections for over 30 years. Based in Denver, he is lauded for his expertise, assisting clients navigate the complexities of inspections to ensure safety. As part of his daily tasks, he prepares for every inspection before thoroughly examining properties. Working with potential homeowners and investors, Mr. Camp diligently ensures every aspect of the homes is looked over and investigated thoroughly to ensure nothing is missed.

Encouraging his clients to be present during his walkthroughs to familiarize themselves with the house, Mr. Camp notes that they are often unaware of certain aspects of the homes, such as crawl spaces. Once his inspection is complete, he will provide a narrative report that includes grading and checks on the electrical system, plumbing issues, water heater, furnace and other house details. Mr. Camp always makes himself available by allowing his clients to call him anytime with questions, concerns or requests for home upgrades. When working with investors, he strives to help them understand what they must do before investing in a particular property.

Before launching Metropolitan Home Inspections in 1993, Mr. Camp was a quality and test engineer at MicroLithics (Coors) from 1990 to 1993. His role involved designing test fixtures and developing test procedures for testing ceramic-based circuit cards for naval computers. Mr. Camp also garnered success as a project engineer of quality assurance at Ball Aerospace between 1984 and 1990. His tenure there included working on several significant programs for space shuttles, a GPS satellite system, and a high-resolution Doppler imager for the University of Michigan. Among other positions, Mr. Camp’s foundational role included working as a physical science technician at Rocky Mountain Arsenal. He also gained knowledge and expertise while serving in the U.S. Navy.

Mr. Camp holds a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from the Metropolitan State University of Denver since 1978. He is also a certified home inspector in Colorado, making him highly qualified. In addition to his formal education, Mr. Camp is active with several industry-related organizations, such as the National Radon Proficiency Program, the American Association of Radon Scientist and Technicians, the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agency, the American Society of Home Inspectors, and the Denver Metro Association of Realtors. Civically, he is active as a volunteer with Habitat for Humanity and a local hospice through the Denver Metro Association of Realtors and by visiting local Veteran Affairs in Eastern Colorado.

Beyond his primary career successes, Mr. Camp is the author of the book, “Useful Tenant Tips.” Designed for individuals renting a home or apartment, it guides readers on how to protect themselves as tenants. With over 30 years of experience in the field, Mr. Camp has witnessed many unscrupulous landlords primarily concerned with the money they collect from rent rather than their tenants’ health, safety or security. This awareness motivated him to write the book.

Mr. Camp’s career accomplishments have earned him recognition as Affiliate of the Year by the Denver Metro Association of Realtors in 2010. He attributes his success to his parents, who always encouraged him to pursue his passion. Additionally, Mr. Camp notes the mentorship of several industry leaders who taught him the complexities of the home inspection industry.
