Willie R. Hardeman Jr., captain of the Prince William County Sheriff’s Office, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in law enforcement.

Mr. Hardeman has dedicated over two decades to law enforcement, currently serving as the captain and division commander of the court services division at the Prince William County Sheriff’s Office in Virginia. Since 2012, he has overseen the largest division within the agency, ensuring the security and safety of the courthouse and its occupants, including over 15 judges. Mr. Hardeman’s role involves implementing safety measures, managing staff and investigating threats within the judicial system. His expertise in problem-solving and bringing individuals together to achieve common goals has been instrumental in his success.

Before his tenure at the sheriff’s office, Mr. Hardeman served as a special deputy with the United States Marshals Service from 2009 to 2015. During this time, he was one of eight individuals selected nationwide to attend a National Judicial Center program, where he was sworn in as a U.S. Marshal special deputy. This role allowed Mr. Hardeman to travel throughout the country, teaching personnel members national and judicial security subjects.

Mr. Hardeman’s career began in 1999 with the Prince William County Police Department, where he worked briefly before transitioning to the school system. This foundational role was pivotal to his career progression and continued success as a leader in the industry.

Mr. Hardeman’s educational background includes completing coursework at Howard University in Washington, D.C., and the administrative officer’s management program at North Carolina State University in Raleigh. He also holds several certifications, including being a credentialed ethics instructor from the International Public Safety Leadership Ethics Institute and a certified crime prevention professional through Environmental Design. These academic achievements have significantly contributed to Mr. Hardeman’s professional accomplishments.

Active in his professional community, Mr. Hardeman is a member of the Virginia Sheriff’s Association. He is also actively involved in various civic organizations. He has been a mentor with the Boys and Girls Clubs of America since 2007 and an instructor with the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives, focusing on improving relationships between law enforcement and communities. Mr. Hardeman is also a member of the NAACP and works with churches across denominations in his community. As an ordained deacon, he leads and motivates youth groups.

As a leader in his field, Mr. Hardeman contributed articles to various professional publications on court security during his tenure with the U.S. Marshal Service, emphasizing interagency collaboration. This serves as a testament to his extensive background and expertise in law.

Mr. Hardeman’s contributions have been recognized through numerous awards, including five-time Best Law Enforcement Officer in Prince William County and a Public Safety Leadership Award from his local chamber of commerce. He has also received letters of commendation from citizens and community organizations and has been honored with a plaque from the U.S. Marshal Service.

Grateful for his continued success, Mr. Hardeman credits much of it to the steadfast support of his wife of over 30 years, who has provided encouragement and motivation throughout his career. Her unwavering support has been invaluable in helping him overcome challenges and achieve success in his endeavors.
