Jason Thiellen, chief executive officer of E & A Consulting Group Inc., has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in building and construction.
Mr. Thiellen has established a distinguished career in urban development and landscape design, marked by his leadership at E & A Consulting Group Inc. As the chief executive officer since 2017, he has mentored and coached approximately 35 individuals, managed department heads and project managers, and engaged with clients to understand their preferences. His role also involves ensuring adherence to processes and procedures, resolving field issues and creating a technical training program for young engineers and technicians. Additionally, Mr. Thiellen prepares financials for the president and tackles complex problems that require high-level solutions.
Before being named to his present position, Mr. Thiellen was the planning department manager at E & A Consulting Group from 2009 to 2017. During this period, he played a pivotal role in transforming the business into a multi-million-dollar enterprise, achieving significant revenue growth of 20% to 30%. Mr. Thiellen’s efforts in rebuilding the company’s culture over five years were crucial in establishing a vision and core values emphasizing excellent service and valuing people’s time and expertise. His journey with the organization began in 2006 when he joined as a land planner.
Mr. Thiellen gained valuable experience as a land planner with Purdy and Slack Architects in 2006. He was also associated with Engineering Design Consultants, beginning as an intern before being hired full-time as a land planner from 2002 to 2006. As a land planner, Mr. Thiellen was instrumental in developing and leading a new planning department.
Mr. Thiellen’s academic background laid a strong foundation for his career success. He earned a Bachelor of Science in horticultural and landscape design in 2000 and a master’s degree in community and regional planning and urban development in 2004 from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. These academic achievements have shaped Mr. Thiellen’s approach to urban development and landscape design.
In addition to his professional achievements, Mr. Thiellen is actively involved in several industry-related organizations. He has served on the executive board of the Sarpy County Economic Development Corporation since 2015 and remains a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP).
Beyond his professional endeavors, Mr. Thiellen is dedicated to civic engagement through associations such as the Welcome Home Foundation Inc., Papillion La Vista Schools mentorship programs and the United Way.
In recognition of his longstanding commitment to his field, Mr. Thiellen’s contributions were initially recognized in 2004 when he received the Student of the Year award from Nebraska’s American Institute of Certified Planners. He attributes much of his success to the practice of self-awareness. Mr. Thiellen also mentions several of his mentors, who were recognized as prominent professionals in the industry and included attorneys, brokers, bankers and other leaders willing to provide him with their time to help him become more proficient.
Mr. Thiellen envisions organically growing E & A Consulting Group while creating a training ground for young engineers and designers. He aims to leave a legacy of a highly profitable firm that nurtures people with head, heart and professional skills. Additionally, Mr. Thiellen aspires to eventually transition away from day-to-day responsibilities while continuing to impact the industry.
