Dr. Lopez also excelled as the vice president at Lopez and Associates Inc. for nearly a decade beginning in 2001, where he was instrumental in developing, validating and implementing employee selection systems for many different industries such as financial services, insurance and utilities.
In addition to his corporate success, Dr. Lopez has drawn satisfaction from serving as a guest lecturer for the industrial-organizational psychology program at his alma mater in the graduate school of arts and sciences at New York University (NYU) in New York City since 2016.
In preparation for his future, Dr. Lopez became highly educated. His academic background began with a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts, followed by a Master of Arts in industrial-organizational psychology from NYU. He also earned a Master of Business Administration from the Fordham Gabelli School of Business at Fordham University in New York City. Other educational pursuits to Dr. Lopez’s credit included completing an executive education program in cybersecurity at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Sloan Executive Education in Cambridge and earning a Doctor of Philosophy in industrial-organizational psychology at Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York.
Dr. Lopez is actively involved in several industry-related organizations, including as a member of the Society of Industrial and Organizational Psychology and the American Psychological Association. These memberships have been instrumental in his professional life, allowing him to remain abreast of industry trends and network with other experts.
Beyond his professional life, Dr. Lopez is deeply committed to civic engagement through his involvement with organizations such as the New York Athletic Club’s security and safety standing committee since 2021 and its human resources standing committee since 2024. He also served on the board of the Holy Cross Alumni Club of New York City from 2000 to 2005 and was an executive sponsor for the I/O psychology community of practice at Booz Allen Hamilton from 2019 to 2021.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Dr. Lopez has received numerous awards recognizing his contributions to innovation and excellence. He co-received the Jeanneret Award for Excellence in the Study of Individual or Group Assessment from the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology in 2013. He also won the Booz Allen Excellence Award in the innovation category in 2015 and was a finalist for the same accolade in 2016.
