Ms. Headley has established herself as a distinguished expert in international taxation, culminating in her role as the chief executive officer of Headleys Tax Consulting & Accounting, a firm she founded in 2022. Her entrepreneurial spirit and innovative approach have set her apart in the industry, particularly by establishing the country of Jamaica’s only standalone tax advisory firm. This venture reflects Ms. Headley’s commitment to separating taxation matters from business and investment decisions, an achievement that has garnered significant recognition.
Commencing her career at PwC, Ms. Headley was a senior tax associate from 1997 to 2004. Her tenure at the firm was marked by her dedication to mastering the intricacies of taxation, which led to her role as a senior tax analyst at PECO Energy Company between 2004 and 2006. She then transitioned to SolomonEdwardsGroup LLC as a tax manager for one year before returning to PwC as a tax manager from 2007 to 2010. Ms. Headley’s expertise continued to expand at Deloitte Tax LLP, where she managed tax management consulting between 2010 and 2012.
In 2012, Ms. Headley joined Scotiabank as a senior manager of tax and capital management, a position she held until 2016. Her leadership skills were further honed when she became the managing director of Sygnus Tax Advisory Limited within the Sygnus Group from 2016 to 2020. Following this role, Ms. Headley served as the tax compliance and reporting manager for Digicel Group until 2022. She demonstrated her ability to navigate complex tax regulations across various jurisdictions in each of these positions.
A journey that began with her academic pursuits, Ms. Headley earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting and finance, magna cum laude, from Temple University in 1998. Her education continued at the J. Mack Robinson College of Business at Georgia State University, where she obtained a master’s degree in taxation with a specialization in international taxation in 2004. These academic achievements laid the foundation for Ms. Headley’s successful career, equipping her with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in complex tax environments.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Ms. Headley is actively involved in several industry-related organizations. She is the founder and course developer for TaxTech Institute and holds memberships with the National Association of Black Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Professional Accountants. Ms. Headley’s dedication to education and mentorship is evident through her involvement with Beta Gamma Sigma National Honor Society and Golden Key International Honor Society.
Ms. Headley’s contributions extend beyond her professional life into civic engagement and creative endeavors. She served as a board member for the Agape Education Scholarship Foundation for over two decades and is currently involved with the Jamaica Progressive League’s fundraising efforts.
Beyond her work-related initiative, Ms. Headley authored “Poetry: The Story of My Life: A Jamaican Experience” in 2024, showcasing her passion for writing. Looking ahead, she plans to shift her focus towards teaching and mentoring young individuals while engaging in charitable work. She aims to provide scholarships and opportunities for future generations, encouraging them to pursue careers in taxation with enthusiasm and purpose.
