This initiative leverages facial recognition to enhance fire detection capabilities, aiming to protect land, property and lives. Mr. Plaksin’s vision for the future includes expanding the use of facial recognition technology across various sectors such as banking, security and entertainment.
Before his role at Alchera X, Mr. Plaksin served as the senior vice president of sales and marketing at NuVision, Apex Digital, Inc., from 2017 to 2021. During this time, he refined his expertise in the consumer electronics distribution channel, making significant contributions to the company’s growth and market presence. Mr. Plaksin’s strategic leadership was instrumental in driving sales and expanding market reach.
Between 2012 and 2017, Mr. Plaksin held the leading role of vice president of sales for North America at Motorola Mobility/Google, Arris Inc. (now CommScope). In this capacity, he played a pivotal role in enhancing the company’s sales strategies and establishing strong relationships with key stakeholders across the continent.
Mr. Plaksin’s previous tenure as the vice president of sales and marketing at ATP Electronics Inc. from 2006 to 2012 was marked by several groundbreaking innovations. He was integral in creating flash drives that revolutionized data storage and collaborated with Sesame Street to develop durable USB drives resembling popular characters. These initiatives not only garnered awards but also supported educational programs for children.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Plaksin was the vice president of operations, sales and marketing at AST Computer (now MEDION, a Lenovo Company), dating back to 2006. His leadership contributed to the company’s successful integration into Lenovo Group. Mr. Plaksin’s journey in the industry began at Packard Bell, NEC Corporation of America, where he was the vice president of sales from 1989 to 1998. Here, he played a crucial role in bringing computers into U.S. homes, significantly impacting the mass market.
Mr. Plaksin graduated from Wyoming Valley West High School in Kingston, Pennsylvania. Subsequently, he received a Bachelor of Science in business management and marketing from the Martin J. Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University in Syracuse, New York. Mr. Plaksin’s education was complemented by a Shoptalk retail education certificate from Shoptalk Commerce LLC, obtained in 2022.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Mr. Plaksin is deeply committed to civic engagement as the founding president of the Wyoming Valley West Educational Foundation since 2014. He is also notably recognized with an Eagle Scout designation from Scouting America. Moreover, Mr. Plaksin was responsible for establishing an educational foundation for his high school, working intently to provide 30 to 50 computers for the school before opening the school’s first computer laboratory in the library. One year later, Mr. Plaksin’s contributions were recognized by the school’s superintendent when the laboratory was named the Michael J. Plaksin Technology Center in his honor.
In light of his success, Mr. Plaksin has also received several accolades, including being named a Chief Executive Officer Visionary by C-Suite Magazine and L.A. Times B2B Publishing in 2024.
