During his tenure, he transformed the company into a public entity and orchestrated its sale for $290 million. Mr. Black began his career included a significant role at FISI-Madison Financial from 1984 to 1991, where he was responsible for overseeing a division within the large company.
Mr. Black’s entrepreneurial spirit extends beyond his primary business ventures. In 1999, he co-founded the Tennessee Land Trust and established a library gala to support its initiatives. His philanthropic efforts are further exemplified by his leadership in cancer research fundraising. Throughout a 15-year period, he raised $200 million through charitable events such as the National Wine Auction, benefiting organizations like the American Cancer Society and Johns Hopkins University.
An internationally recognized wine personality, Mr. Black has contributed significantly to the wine industry through various tastings and publications. He has authored approximately 200 articles that have been published online, sharing his insights with a global audience. His passion for wine also led to the creation of Black by Black, a wine produced from 2001 to 2021 that was donated to charity events to support cancer research.
To support his professional ambitions, Mr. Black pursued a formal education at Missouri State University, from which he earned a Bachelor of Arts in rhetoric and public address from Missouri State University.
