Mr. Genung has carved a distinguished career in executive management, technology, nonprofit and for-profit leadership, and entrepreneurship, amassing over 30 years of experience. He is currently the co-founder and managing director of ProSocial World, a position he has held since 2020. In this role, Mr. Genung has been instrumental in advancing the organization’s mission to foster cooperation and collective flourishing through innovative frameworks. His journey with ProSocial began when he co-founded the organization alongside David Sloan Wilson and Paul Atkins, transforming it into an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit entity.
Leveraging his expertise in the nonprofit sector, Mr. Genung previously co-founded Contemplative Life in 2015, a digital hub that connects individuals and communities with transformative practices. His work with Contemplative Life introduced him to the co-founders of the Evolution Institute, leading to his involvement with ProSocial. Additionally, Mr. Genung co-founded Transformation365.org, an experiential practice network, in 2018.
Beyond his expertise in this sector, Mr. Genung served as the vice president of strategic partnerships at Mutual Mobile from 2012 to 2014, where he played a pivotal role in forming key alliances. He initially joined the organization as the director of sales and business development in 2011.
Mr. Genung’s career also included significant contributions at TechTurn, where he held various leadership positions between 2002 and 2011. As the vice president of sales, business development and account management, he was integral in driving the company’s growth and success. Moreover, Mr. Genung’s entrepreneurial spirit was evident early on when he operated one of the most extensive collectible art sculpture galleries in North America, attracting renowned sculptors and collectors worldwide.
Academically, Mr. Genung holds a bachelor’s degree in business and economics management and a master’s degree in theology from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. His education has been foundational in shaping his approach to leadership and collaboration. Additionally, Mr. Genung is ordained, which complements his deep commitment to spiritual practice and self-improvement.
Mr. Genung’s civic involvement is extensive. He has been a hospice volunteer with Hospice Austin since 2005, is a thought leader with Evolutionary Leaders, and is affiliated with The Holomovement. He previously served as a trustee and treasurer for The Center for Contemplative Mind in Society, an organization dedicated to integrating contemplative practices into higher education and contemporary life, from 2012 to 2018.
As an author and contributor to several books, Mr. Genung continues to explore themes of interconnectedness across various fields, including physics, evolutionary science, neuroscience and contemplative science. He is passionate about writing future works that delve into these subjects while examining the shift towards spirituality beyond organized religion.
