Charles J. Hatfield, executive vice president, New York tristate life sciences practice leader and steering committee member at Colliers, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in life sciences and biotechnology.

Having accrued more than 30 years of experience, Mr. Hatfield serves as an executive vice president at Colliers, where he also provides guidance as a New York tristate life sciences practice leader and a member of the organization’s steering committee. Stepping into these roles in 2017, he specializes in advising institutional-grade landlords who are looking to secure high-quality tenants for their buildings. Mr. Hatfield also works directly with tenants who are looking for properties that fulfill their specific needs, such as research and development (R&D), biomanufacturing capabilities or even simple office space. He is particularly skilled in aiding clients in the life sciences field, with years of expertise in addressing difficult tenant requirements.

Before joining Colliers, Mr. Hatfield built his reputation as an executive with Cushman & Wakefield for 10 years. Earlier in his career, he established his credentials in real estate working as a senior vice president at JLL, SJP Properties and RMJM Hillier. Throughout his professional life, Mr. Hatfield has earned accolades from colleagues for his consistent performance and ability to deliver on expectations. Most notably, he has received the Everest Club Award from Colliers multiple times. This honor is reserved for the top 10% of revenue producers for the company. Additionally, Mr. Hatfield has won awards for creativity in dealmaking and has been recognized by NAIOP, the Commercial Real Estate Development Association.

Prior to embarking upon his professional journey, Mr. Hatfield sought a strong educational foundation to build on. He earned a bachelor’s degree in English language and literature from the University of Colorado Boulder in 1986. Determined to continue learning outside of the academic setting, Mr. Hatfield has deepened his knowledge by embracing the challenges of his field. He notes that working with life sciences firms can be complex and daunting, but that he gains immense satisfaction from it, as demonstrated by his acknowledged expertise within the profession.

Beyond his primary vocation, Mr. Hatfield is also deeply devoted to the cause of animal welfare. He contributes as the president of Spay First, a nonprofit dedicated to solving problems with animal poverty and overpopulation. Under his leadership, this organization partners with the federal government to conduct research with molecular biologists in state-of-the-art laboratories. Mr. Hatfield seeks to add to humane, science-based solutions to animal overpopulation that improve traditional spaying and neutering methods. He has chosen to collaborate with the federal government to help ensure that whatever technologies the company comes up with remain affordable for the marginalized communities that would most benefit from them.

Further showcasing his love of animals, Mr. Hatfield lives on a farm where he raises a huge number of animals: Scottish Highland cows, Amish draft horses, barn cats and more, all of which have been rescued. Alongside taking care of animals, he fills his free time with skiing, snowshoeing and playing ice hockey. As he moves forward, Mr. Hatfield is equally committed to his work with Colliers and with Spay First. For the former, he aims to carry on his esteemed track record of high performance with the company. With Spay First, Mr. Hatfield looks forward to guiding the organization in addressing critical issues in the animal safety world.
