Her journey began with the incorporation of the agency in 2005, but she chose to operate independently two years later, prioritizing her family commitments. Under her leadership, FSB Agency Inc. has become a trusted partner for contractors and subcontractors in the construction industry, providing essential performance and payment bonds for projects ranging from building construction to roadwork and bridge projects. Ms. Keith’s expertise in contract surety bonds has been instrumental in securing contracts with governmental entities, such as the City of Miami, Florida, Broward County, Florida, and the federal government.
A career trajectory shaped by her early experiences, Ms. Keith worked for a large agency, where she honed her skills in project management on a significant $240 million water and sewer project for Dade County, Florida. It was during this time that she discovered her passion for helping small businesses secure the working capital needed to participate in large-scale projects. Ms. Keith’s meticulous work on loan packages caught the attention of a vice president at the surety company, who encouraged her to transition into the bonding side of the industry. This pivotal moment led her to obtain her license after completing 200 hours of coursework, despite having to balance work and family responsibilities.
Ms. Keith’s academic background includes a Bachelor of Science in economics from the University of Miami, which has provided a strong foundation for her business acumen and strategic decision-making. In addition to her professional achievements, she is actively involved in several industry-related and community-related organizations, including the National Association of Black Women in Construction, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, the Miami-Dade Chamber of Commerce and the Broward County Chamber of Commerce. Ms. Keith’s dedication to supporting minority-owned businesses is further exemplified by her work with the Minority Business Development Agency, where she has played a crucial role in bonding over $1 billion in contracts. She has also been serving as a board member for the Family Christian Association of America, further demonstrating her commitment to civic engagement. Ms. Keith’s commitment to service and community was nurtured through early involvement in outreach activities, which fostered a deep respect for the overlooked and underserved.
In light of her contributions, Ms. Keith has received numerous accolades throughout her career. In 2010, she was named Woman of the Year by the National Association of Professional Women. She also won the Access to Capital Award in 2020 and was named Trailblazing Woman of the Year by Women Mean Business in 2023. Ms. Keith attributes much of her success to the values instilled in her during her upbringing as a preacher’s child.
Outside of her professional life, Ms. Keith enjoys sports, dance and exercise, having formerly taught aerobics exercise classes. As she looks toward the future, she is focused on building a legacy for her son by expanding FSB Agency Inc.’s clientele base. Ms. Keith’s goal is to ensure that he inherits a thriving business with promising opportunities within the industry.
