Before his role at Johns Manville, Mr. Smith was a supply planning manager at The Bazooka Companies, Inc. from 2021 to 2023. From 2013 to 2021, Mr. Smith served as the supply chain manager at InterMetro Industries Corporation. This period stands out as a defining chapter in his career, particularly in 2012 when Emerson tasked InterMetro with relocating its Philadelphia plant operations to Acuña, Mexico. Mr. Smith was responsible for closing the Philadelphia facility and managing the complex transition of operations across borders, a challenge that required both logistical acumen and strong interpersonal skills.

Among other significant accomplishments during his tenure at InterMetro Industries Corporation, Mr. Smith was able to confront various challenges with pipeline inefficiencies once operations were established in Mexico by implementing a push-pull system in collaboration with teams from City University of New York, Mexico and his supply chain department, dramatically improving on-time delivery rates to from just over 25% to 98%. Additionally, Mr. Smith addressed machinery breakdowns that threatened production schedules by instituting a preventive maintenance plan and establishing a dedicated maintenance department to ensure spare parts were always available.

Before assuming his management role, Mr. Smith served as a production and inventory control manager at InterMetro Industries Corporation, starting in 2010. He also succeeded as a production planner and production and inventory control supervisor at Emerson Commercial & Residential Solutions, beginning in 2000. He earned a bachelor’s degree in business from Wilkes University in 1995 and a Master of Business Administration with concentrations in finance and operations management on campus in 2006. In addition to his formal education, he has pursued ongoing professional development through LinkedIn. He also earned credentials in supply chain analytics foundations and PivotTables in depth, garnered project management certification from Pennsylvania State University, designation in the basis of supply chain management from APICS, and Six Sigma green belt certification through Northeastern Pennsylvania Industrial Resource Center.

Throughout his career, Mr. Smith has demonstrated exceptional expertise in supply chain management, planning, logistics, warehouse operations and import-export processes. His accomplishments have been recognized through several awards, including a Performance Excellence Award in 2015 and a Customer Award from InterMetro Industries Corporation in 2017. Mr. Smith attributes his success to hard work, consistency and authenticity, values instilled in him early in his career by the president of the first textile mill where he worked after college.

Beyond his professional responsibilities, Mr. Smith has contributed to his community as a youth football coach for nearly a decade, providing mentorship to the community’s youth. Looking ahead, he aims to advance further within his field by pursuing opportunities at the director level while continuing to prioritize team collaboration and operational excellence.
