Ms. Stone is an expert in the nonprofit sector and currently serves as the president and chief executive officer of Livestrong, a role she assumed in 2023. Under her leadership, the organization remains steadfast in its mission to improve the lives of those affected by cancer. In her role, Ms. Stone is dedicated to cultivating strategic partnerships and advancing projects that address the complex challenges faced by patients and caregivers.
Regarding her current position as her most significant professional achievement, Ms. Stone is leading an organization with a nearly three-decade legacy. Striving to ensure its continued relevance in a rapidly evolving technological landscape, she continues to make great strides. Notably, in 2025, Ms. Stone initiated a collaboration with the Ironman Foundation to encourage participation in athletic events, with a portion of the proceeds supporting Livestrong’s initiatives.
Ms. Stone’s earlier tenure at Livestrong included serving as the chief strategic solutions and programs officer from 2020 to 2023 and vice president of programs and strategy from 2019 to 2020. During these years, she played a pivotal role in designing and implementing programs that expanded the organization’s reach and effectiveness.
Before her current appointment at Livestrong, Ms. Stone was the chief operating officer for CharityACE from 2023 to 2025. Between 2016 and 2020, she held dual roles as the executive director for Susan G. Komen in Austin and later for the Greater Central and East Texas regions. Ms. Stone’s leadership was instrumental in expanding Komen’s service area from five counties to over 55 counties across Texas, significantly increasing access to resources for individuals impacted by breast cancer.
Among other noteworthy roles, Ms. Stone served as the executive director of development and corporate relations for the education foundation at Lake Travis Independent School District. From 2013 to 2016, she was responsible for fostering partnerships with local businesses and community stakeholders to support educational initiatives. Ms. Stone’s experience also included serving as a fundraiser and community specialist for Children’s Miracle Network at United Regional Health Care System, starting in 2011, where she managed fundraising campaigns and community outreach efforts.
Ms. Stone began her career in 2008 as a development and volunteer specialist at Child Advocates. This role shaped her understanding of scalable impact within nonprofit organizations, teaching her that systemic change can reach far more individuals than direct service alone.
A graduate of Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas, Ms. Stone earned a Bachelor of Science in radio, television and film production in 1992. Her academic background provided a strong foundation, teaching her the necessary skills that have since become integral to her career in nonprofit leadership, program development and public engagement.
Beyond her professional responsibilities, Ms. Stone contributed as a guest speaker for The Philanthropy Lab in 2021, sharing her expertise with emerging leaders in philanthropy. She is also recognized for her creative work as the co-author of “My Brave Friend: Emma and Noah Face Cancer Together,” published by Mascot Kids in 2025 alongside Brett Fox. This project aimed at supporting children navigating cancer diagnoses within their families.
Ms. Stone’s achievements have been acknowledged through several honors, including a regional Emmy Award from The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences for a television program she produced in 1998. Additionally, she was named Co-Coach of the Year for four consecutive years while coaching a collegiate women’s basketball team in upstate New York. Ms. Stone attributes much of her success to her willingness to ask questions, learn from experienced mentors and embrace failure as part of the growth process.
Committed to transforming how individuals experience cancer, Ms. Stone draws satisfaction by introducing solutions that alleviate financial, emotional and physical burdens associated with diagnosis and treatment. In the future, her priority is to create impactful initiatives that ensure equitable access to high-quality support for all individuals affected by cancer.
