Kevin J. Legault, Executive Vice President of Flight Training and Chief Flight Instructor at Jet Access, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements and leadership in Aviation Safety.

Mr. Legault has established a distinguished career in aviation, marked by progressive leadership roles and a steadfast commitment to flight safety. Since 2025, he has served as the executive vice president of flight training and chief flight instructor at Jet Access in Greenfield, Indiana. In this capacity, Mr. Legault oversees the strategic direction and operational excellence of the company’s flight training division. He is most proud of the collective achievements realized alongside his colleagues, particularly witnessing the success of students who have advanced through the program developed under his guidance.

Before his current appointment, Mr. Legault was the vice president of flight training at Jet Access from 2023 to 2025. During this period, he played a pivotal role in expanding the curriculum and enhancing instructional standards, helping solidify the organization’s reputation for excellence in pilot education. From 2020 to 2024, Mr. Legault contributed to the company as a program coordinator and senior assistant chief instructor. His expertise in flight safety was instrumental in shaping a culture of continuous improvement within the training department.

Since pivoting into an executive role at Jet Access, Mr. Legault has spent the last five years focused on supply training. His goal is to grow further by contributing to other areas of the business. Notably, Jet Access operates across several verticals, including private airport terminals, startup operations, maintenance, sales, brokerage and privatization.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Legault served as a first officer at Republic Airways, an airline company headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana, from 2018 to 2019, where he gained valuable experience in commercial aviation operations. He began his professional journey at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, where he attended college, serving as an aviation weather and dispatch specialist in 2014. In this role, Mr. Legault developed a keen understanding of the meteorological impacts on flight operations. He then served as a certified flight instructor for the university from 2015 to 2018, where he was responsible for training aspiring pilots and fostering a strong foundation in aeronautical knowledge and practical skills.

The foundation for Mr. Legault’s passion for aviation was laid during his childhood in Chicago, Illinois, where his grandfather and uncle owned an aeronautical engineering company equipped with a full simulator. Early experiences flying this simulator ignited his interest in piloting rather than engineering, setting him on a path toward an aviation career.

In preparation for his future, Mr. Legault obtained an associate’s degree in aviation flight and a bachelor’s degree in aviation management from Southern Illinois University. His educational achievements have been complemented by several certifications, including a commercial certificate AMEL-instrument from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in 2014, credentials as a certified flight instructor (CFII) from the FAA in 2015, and designation as an airline transport pilot AMEL ERJ-170/190 from the FAA, U.S. Department of Transportation, in 2018. These credentials have underpinned Mr. Legault’s expertise in flight safety and instructional leadership.

Mr. Legault is an active member of several industry organizations, including the Aviation Management Society at Southern Illinois University and the Experimental Aircraft Association Inc., reflecting his ongoing commitment to professional development and advocacy within the aviation community. He has also served as a faculty advisor for the Southern Illinois University chapter of the National Gay Pilots Association since 2017.

In 2024, Mr. Legault was featured in Current Publishing for his leadership in advancing a Zionsville-based flight training program. He attributes much of his success to the mentorship he received from senior executives at Jet Access, whose guidance helped him transition into leadership despite having limited formal business training. Mr. Legault also credits his colleagues for their support and collaboration, which have been vital to both his personal growth and professional accomplishments.

Looking ahead, Mr. Legault aspires to expand Jet Access’s flight school by opening additional locations and increasing his involvement across various facets of the company’s operations, including private airport terminals, startup ventures, maintenance services, sales, brokerage and privatization initiatives, to gain broader organizational insight beyond flight training. He wishes to be remembered as a mentor who empowered others to achieve their professional aspirations, whether employees under his leadership or students progressing through his programs, leaving a lasting impact on those who share his passion for aviation excellence.
