Wesley Vinton Hromatko, DMin, minister at Tristate Unitarian Universalist Congregations and owner and operator of Century Farm, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in religious services and ministry.

For more than 50 years, Dr. Hromatko has devoted himself to ministry. He is a longtime member of and a relentless advocate for the Unitarian Universalist church, a diverse institution that prioritizes pluralism, equity, generosity and love in its mission of supporting spiritual development. Dr. Hromatko was encouraged to pursue ministry by youth group leaders in summer camps and other ministers during his college years. Driven by those suggestions, he became a student minister at the Third Unitarian Church in Chicago in 1972, before filling the same position at Unity Temple in Oak Park, Illinois, and Abraham Lincoln Fellowship in Springfield, Illinois.

After establishing himself, Dr. Hromatko took on his first role as a full minister at the Oaklandon Unitarian Universalist Church in 1973. Across his extensive career, he contributed as a minister at the First Unitarian Church of Hobart, the All Souls Church, the Church of the Larger Fellowship and the First Congregational Parish Unitarian Church in Petersham, Massachusetts. Since 1990, Dr. Hromatko has served as a speaker and minister at various Unitarian Universalist congregations across the Iowa-Minnesota-South Dakota tristate area. In addition to speaking engagements, he offers expertise in bookkeeping and management for these institutions.

Beyond his responsibilities as a minister for the Unitarian Universalist church, Dr. Hromatko also owns and operates a Century Farm in rural Minnesota. As a regionally recognized Century Farm since 2011, this property has been owned by his family for more than 100 years. Dr. Hromatko’s farm covers around 240 acres, and he hires others to handle planting and other farm work. He fondly recalls growing up on a bustling farm full of chickens, hogs, horses and milk cows, and laments the broader shift away from family-owned farms and toward larger industrial farms across the country.

Dr. Hromatko’s performance in religious services has been backed up by his academic record, beginning with a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Minnesota, where he graduated cum laude in 1969. In 1971, he obtained a Master of Arts from Meadville Lombard Theological School, a Unitarian Universalist seminary affiliated with The University of Chicago. Subsequently, Dr. Hromatko earned a doctorate in ministry from the same institution in 1973. He was ordained to ministry by the Unitarian Universalist Association via the Oaklandon Unitarian Universalist Church that same year.

Known for his contributions as a civic-minded citizen, Dr. Hromatko advocates for causes he believes in above and beyond his ministry work. He has previously been affiliated with such ventures as the Hobart American Revolution Bicentennial Commission, the Organization for a Better Austin, the Indiana Justice Project, the Religious Coalition for Abortion Rights, the Eastern Lawrence Township Planning Commission, the Oaklandon Civic Association, the Indiana Unitarian-Universalist Legislative Conference, the Save the Dunes Council, the Protestant Social Services Bureau, the Chicago Area Unitarian Universalist Council, the Braintree Historical Society, the Braintree Civic Association, the Petersham Cultural Council, the Petersham Ecumenical Commission, and the Athol and Orange Food Bank. In 2023, Dr. Hromatko was invited as a delegate to the Unitarian Universalist Association’s General Assembly. He contributes to the Murray County Historical Society and has been a member of the Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party since 1990.

Outside of his professional and spiritual obligations, Dr. Hromatko enjoys reading, collecting stamps, painting, drawing and gardening. He loves buying and selling books, always eager to encounter new ideas.
