In this capacity, Ms. Velez is responsible for developing the Tennessee market, specializing in market development and growth. She educates insurance brokers on the value proposition of CRC Benefits, which represents multiple carriers, and assists them in strategizing client needs, enrolling and processing clients and retaining customers. Notably, Ms. Velez’s division manages group benefits for both small and large groups, including medical, dental, vision, life and long-term disability insurance.

Since 2023, Ms. Velez has also operated as a trauma-informed coach through Rhonda Velez Coaching. In this role, she leverages her expertise to guide individuals through personal and professional challenges using trauma-informed methodologies. Ms. Velez’s coaching practice reflects her belief that personal adversity can be transformed into professional strength.

From 2022 to 2024, Ms. Velez was a sales executive at Oscar Health, a leading health care technology company. Between 2009 and 2022, she was a sales executive at Warner Pacific Insurance Services. She is particularly proud of her achievements during this period, notably building the California market from inception to a portfolio approaching $2 million. This accomplishment stands as a testament to Ms. Velez’s dedication and business acumen.

Ms. Velez began her insurance career as a sales executive at Blue Shield of California in 2006. She also gained valuable experience working at a general agency in California for over a decade.

Ms. Velez’s academic background includes a bachelor’s degree in addiction studies from Bethany College of the Assemblies of God in Scotts Valley, California, earned in 1994. Her professional development is further supported by numerous credentials, including certification in addiction studies and counseling from Bethany College of the Assemblies of God, grief counseling certification from the American Academy of Grief Counseling, master life coach designation from Transformation Academy and certification in narrative trauma and story work from Freedom Movement. Additionally, Ms. Velez completed coaching leadership and personal development coursework at Freedom Academy.

Adding to his professional commitments, Ms. Velez has been an active member of the National Association of Benefits and Insurance Professionals, where she also serves on the board of directors. Her industry involvement underscores her commitment to advancing best practices within the benefits and insurance sector.

Civically engaged, Ms. Velez is the founder of the Tiana Project, a nonprofit organization she operates with her husband. The Tiana Project supports parents who have lost children by assisting with gravestone purchases and providing grief support services. It also addresses the unique needs of men coping with grief. Furthermore, Ms. Velez is involved with Latinos for Tennessee and the Freedom Movement.

As an author, Ms. Velez published “24-Carat Conversations Devotional: Emerging as Pure Gold in the Midst of our Circumstances” in 2022 and “When God Says No, Eat Cake: Finding Comfort in God Despite Setbacks in Life” in 2025. Her writing reflects her mission to help individuals discover their full potential both personally and professionally. Ms. Velez is also active as a podcast host and has co-hosted several programs, including “Recovering PK Podcast,” Qualified for More,” and “24 Carat Conversations.”

Ms. Velez’s early exposure to addiction recovery work was influenced by her father, who ran a rehabilitation center for 25 years. Inspiring her initial career path, assisting pregnant women struggling with addiction after graduation, this formative experience instilled in her a passion for helping others navigate adversity. Reflecting on her career in this sector, Ms. Velez attributes the unwavering support of her parents for playing an essential role in her journey.

In light of her success in insurance, Ms. Velez was recognized through various Sales Awards between 2013 and 2020, induction into the President’s Club and membership in the Million Dollar Club. Looking ahead, she aspires to move into consulting or broker development roles where she can continue building meaningful connections within the industry while empowering others through mentorship and advocacy.
