Mr. Fisher has established a distinguished career as an expert in cybersecurity and artificial intelligence, earning recognition for his leadership and technical acumen across multiple sectors. As the founder and managing director of Strongpoint Security LLC since 2017, he has guided the organization in providing advanced security solutions to clients, leveraging his extensive background in risk management and technology.
In 2023, Mr. Fisher also assumed the role of strategy and operations leadership for the U.S. Center of Excellence at CGI, an information technology and business consulting services firm. In this capacity, he has been instrumental in shaping operational strategies while serving clients.
From 2018 to 2022, Mr. Fisher also served as a senior director of cybersecurity at Aera Technology while simultaneously leading Strongpoint Security LLC. During his tenure, he was brought on to enhance the company’s security governance and successfully built a comprehensive security program from inception. Under Mr. Fisher’s leadership, Aera Technology achieved four major certifications within a four-year period: SOC 2 Type 1, SOC 2 Type 2, HIPAA compliance, and ISO 27001, ISO 27017 and ISO 9001. This accomplishment stands as one of his most notable achievements, reflecting his dedication to operational rigor and adherence to industry best practices.
Mr. Fisher was the head of cyber risk and resilience at YapStone, a fintech company, from 2016 to 2017. There, he collaborated with executive leadership to establish a robust security program designed to protect vacation and rental payment transactions. Mr. Fisher’s efforts were pivotal in safeguarding sensitive financial data and ensuring regulatory compliance.
Recruited from Worldpay, Mr. Fisher spent 2015 and 2016 as the head of business continuity and physical security. He focused on incident management as well as business continuity and disaster recovery. His tenure included receiving specialized training from higher headquarters in London, which required several trips abroad to gain insights from their cybersecurity team. Additionally, Mr. Fisher received training in mergers and acquisitions as Worldpay expanded through the acquisition of several firms in Montreal and Texas.
Mr. Fisher’s professional journey began with service as a law enforcement officer with the Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office from 2002 to 2007. This early experience provided him with a strong foundation in public safety and crisis response, before he pivoted full-time into cybersecurity.
Before working as a law enforcement officer, Mr. Fisher achieved early success in the military, serving as an infantry officer in the U.S. Army from 2010 to 2015, which shaped his approach to leadership and security. His service included overseeing online security protocols for personnel, marking the beginning of his involvement in information technology security responsibilities.
Mr. Fisher’s academic credentials include a Bachelor of Arts in communications from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, awarded in 2002, followed by a Master of Business Administration in 2007 and a Master of Science in software design and management in 2020 from Liberty University. He also holds numerous professional designations, including certified solutions architect associate from Amazon Web Services, certified business continuity professional from DRI International, certified chief information security officer and certified ethical hacker from EC-Council, and certified cloud security professional, certified secure software lifecycle professional and certified information systems security professional from the International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium (ISC2), among others.
Mr. Fisher’s expertise is further demonstrated by his active membership in several prominent industry organizations, including the American Society for Industrial Security, the Disaster Recovery Institute International, the Information Systems Audit and Control Association, ISC2 and InfraGard. He has also contributed to thought leadership through speaking engagements, including serving as a guest speaker for the Association of Government Accountants in 2024. Meanwhile, Mr. Fisher’s civic engagement has included developing and serving on the executive advisory board for cybersecurity at California State University, Chico, since 2020. He has also been influential on the National Small Business Association’s national leadership council since 2021 and has served as an advisory board member for the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia’s artificial intelligence and machine learning committee since 2024.
In recognition of his achievements, Mr. Fisher received the Bronze Star from the U.S. Army in 2012 and the Achievement Award from Aera Technology in 2021. Looking ahead, he aims to expand his career further while continuing to drive advancements at the intersection of artificial intelligence and security technology.
