Ms. Vodron, the executive director of Family Promise of Midland in Midland, Texas, has been excelling in her role since 2024. As such, she manages three properties, oversees all organizational programs, and implements new initiatives to address the needs of homeless families in the community. Her responsibilities encompass property management, staff supervision, program oversight, fundraising and grant writing, as well as attending meetings and conducting board meetings. Ms. Vodron is directly involved in every aspect of the organization except for case management of the families.
Under Ms. Vodron’s leadership, Family Promise of Midland has expanded its reach and impact through innovative programming. One of her most significant achievements since joining the nonprofit has been the creation and implementation of an eviction prevention program. Launched in January 2025, this initiative reflects her commitment to preventing homelessness before it occurs. The program provides financial literacy education and direct financial assistance to families at risk of eviction, helping them remain in their homes. In less than a year, the program assisted nearly 40 families and more than 100 individuals, ensuring they did not have to face the trauma of displacement. This accomplishment stands as a testament to Ms. Vodron’s dedication to proactive community support.
Before being acquired by Family Promise of Midland, Ms. Vodron served as the director at Midland YMCA from 2023 to 2024. In this role, she was responsible for overseeing daily operations and supporting community wellness initiatives. Ms. Vodron’s leadership contributed to strengthening the organization’s outreach and engagement with local families.
Ms. Vodron’s earlier success was in education. She spent her first five years teaching grade five in all subjects, grade six in mathematics and science, and grade seven in mathematics. This experience provided her with a comprehensive understanding of student needs at every stage of development. Subsequently, Ms. Vodron became an educational consultant for the Region 18 Education Service Center. In this capacity, she traveled throughout the region working with superintendents, principals and teachers to provide training aimed at improving district performance and student outcomes.
Following her teaching and consulting commitments, Ms. Vodron worked in educational administration, initially as an assistant principal at Nimitz Middle School in Odessa, Texas, where she developed skills in school leadership and student advocacy. She was then promoted to principal at Scarborough Elementary in Midland, where she led efforts that improved academic performance and fostered a supportive environment for students and staff.
Ms. Vodron’s transition away from education was motivated by her experiences at Scarborough Elementary, where she witnessed firsthand the challenges faced by foster children lacking stable housing or resources. This connection deepened her resolve to make a broader impact on families beyond the classroom.
Ms. Vodron’s academic background includes a bachelor’s degree in elementary education with a focus on mathematics, followed by a master’s degree in educational leadership and administration from the University of Texas Permian Basin in Odessa. Her educational achievements have been instrumental in shaping her approach to leadership and program development within both academic and nonprofit settings.
Apart from her work-related endeavors, Ms. Vodron’s civic involvement has included volunteering with her local church and supporting the West Texas Food Bank, where she contributes time and resources to address food insecurity in the region. She also actively assists with coaching youth baseball teams. Among other activities, Ms. Vodron serves as the vice president of Coffee & Connections, a networking group that fosters professional growth among local leaders, and participates in outreach projects such as “7 Questions with… Krystle Vodron,” where she has shared insights into her role as the executive director of Family Promise of Midland.
Ms. Vodron’s contributions have been recognized through several honors, including being nominated for the Beacon Awards for Innovation in Nonprofit Work. The values instilled by her mother, a single parent who worked three jobs, have been central to Ms. Vodron’s success. She credits her work ethic and commitment to service to these early influences, which inspired her lifelong dedication to helping others facing adversity.
Looking ahead, Ms. Vodron is focused on expanding housing opportunities for families in need by exploring additional property spaces within the community. Recognizing childcare as a critical barrier for many parents seeking employment, particularly those working nontraditional hours, she aims to establish a childcare facility with extended hours tailored to local workforce demands. Education also remains central to Ms. Vodron’s mission as she continues developing programs that enhance stability and opportunity for vulnerable families throughout Midland.
