Mr. Herget has become recognized for his tenure and expertise in wealth management, marked by more than four decades of dedicated service and leadership. Since 1998, a financial advisor at Morgan Stanley, where he is also first vice president and certified exit planning advisor (CEPA). In this capacity, Mr. Herget has built enduring relationships with a diverse clientele, including small business owners, individuals, trusts and nonprofit foundations. His expertise encompasses portfolio management, retirement and estate planning strategies, as well as insurance planning needs. Mr. Herget is recognized for his commitment to adding value and providing exceptional service to clients, resulting in multigenerational relationships that began in the 1980s and now extend to his clients’ grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Before being acquired by Bank of America, Mr. Herget was a financial adviser at Piper Jaffray from 1992 to 1998. During this period, he refined his skills in investment management and client engagement, helping solidify his reputation for integrity and reliability. Between 1987 and 1992, Mr. Herget contributed as a financial adviser at Boettcher & Company, where he began to develop his proficiency in financial planning and relationship building.
Mr. Herget began his professional journey in 1981 as a special agent with Northwestern Mutual Life. Over more than five years, he laid the foundation for his career by focusing on life insurance and estate planning. Mr. Herget credits this early exposure as instrumental in understanding the importance of handling personal finances responsibly and ensuring quality of life well after retirement.
A graduate of the University of Arizona in Tucson, Mr. Herget earned a Bachelor of Science in agriculture with a focus on agricultural economics in 1983. While attending the university, he competed as a member of the men’s gymnastics team and was awarded an athletic scholarship. He graduated with an honorable mention to the Dean’s List, a testament to his academic diligence and athletic discipline. Additionally, in 2023, Mr. Herget obtained credentials as a certified exit planning adviser, further enhancing his ability to guide business owners through meaningful transitions in exit planning and succession strategies.
Mr. Herget’s professional achievements are complemented by active involvement in civic organizations. He served 25 years in a number of search and rescue teams including the position of captain for The Pima County Sheriffs Mounted Search & Rescue, a field-qualified and outdoor emergency care technician for Southern Arizona Search & Rescue, and both a founding member and past president of the Southern Arizona Mounted Search & Rescue. Empire Ranch Foundation’s mission is to maintain and preserve one of Southern Arizona’s treasured landmarks as caretakers of historic buildings and surrounding landscape. These roles reflect his commitment to community engagement and support for local initiatives. Currently, Mr. Herget works as an adviser to the finance committee and as a board member of the Empire Ranch Foundation.
Mr. Herget is also a member of the Forty Niner Country Club in Tucson. Additionally, he joined Mission 2 Alpha, a nonprofit endurance team composed of active military personnel, veterans and first responders. Moreover, Mr. Herget has participated in extreme fundraising cycling events, such as the Mojave Death Race, covering 250 miles in 24 hours during summer conditions in the Mojave Desert, the Pikes Peak Hill climb, and the four day California Challenge from Cave Creek, Arizona to San Diego.
Throughout his career, Mr. Herget has held several leadership roles. He has become highly regarded for establishing and cultivating client relationships within the landscape of portfolio management, retirement and estate planning. His dedication to these areas has earned him recognition as an expert in the field.
In light of his professional excellence, Mr. Herget has been recognized with multiple awards, including Forbes’ Best-In-State Wealth Management Team for three consecutive years between 2023 and 2025, and numerous Five Star Wealth Manager Awards in the state of Arizona. He was likewise featured in Maguires Who’s Who for 2025 and 2026. He attributes much of his success to enjoying his work, which provides both motivation and challenge, and to surrounding himself with accomplished individuals who inspire growth.
