To achieve these objectives, Mr. Johnson organizes comprehensive market strategies and meets with each member of his team twice annually to discuss and refine their approach. These strategies are then implemented over the following six months, resulting in significant success for both himself and his team. His ability to sell high-end digital production machines for printing has earned him recognition as an expert in the field.
Before joining Ricoh Corporation, Mr. Johnson spent over 15 years with Xerox, where he developed and honed his skills in sales and customer relations. During his tenure at the organization, he achieved the distinction of being ranked number one nationwide in the United States in 2005, a milestone he considers his most notable professional accomplishment.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Johnson garnered success with Eastman Kodak Company. From 1990 to 1998, he worked as a regional sales trainer, prioritizing training programs for executives throughout Latin America in areas like equipment sales, sales cycle management and C-level engagement. His role was crucial to his company’s success as a leader in both graphic arts and communications.
Transitioning into sales after initially working as a financial consultant at Smith Barney, Mr. Johnson spent 1989 to 1990 honing his skills in people relations, advising both individual clients and organizations on stocks, bonds and mutual funds.
Mr. Johnson’s academic foundation included earning a Bachelor of Business Administration from Inter American University of Puerto Rico in 1982. This educational background provided him with essential business acumen and strategic thinking skills that have been instrumental throughout his career.
Beyond his professional achievements, Mr. Johnson is actively involved in civic organizations and charitable causes. He has served as a volunteer inspector for the American Red Cross and contributed as a donor to the American Cancer Society, World Jewish Congress and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Mr. Johnson is also a member of Dynamic Catholic and Tao Fund, reflecting his commitment to community engagement and philanthropy.
Mr. Johnson was honored with a President’s Club award and received recognition as the Rookie Investment Banker of the Year from Smith Barney for exceeding acquisition and revenue growth targets. He credits much of his success to personal attributes such as flexibility, strong listening skills, integrity, a passion for learning and a genuine desire to help others succeed. By consistently evaluating situations from the customer’s perspective and prioritizing their needs, even when it means going beyond the capabilities of his own equipment, he has built lasting trust and appreciation among clients. Looking forward to retirement soon, after more than 35 years of professional success, Mr. Johnson intends to fulfill his wife’s wishes and dedicate more time to working with charitable organizations to make a meaningful difference in others’ lives.
