Ms. Stauffer, a distinguished humanitarian, has established herself as an expert in humanitarian affairs through a career spanning two decades. Her current role as the head of communications and reporting at the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in Kyiv, Ukraine, which she began in 2025, marks the latest milestone in her ongoing commitment to global relief efforts. In this capacity, Ms. Stauffer oversees strategic communications and reporting initiatives, ensuring that critical information reaches stakeholders and supports effective humanitarian response.

From 2022 to 2025, Ms. Stauffer served as head of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs’ Kyiv hub. During this period, she managed complex operations amid challenging circumstances, demonstrating adaptability and leadership in coordinating international aid efforts. Previously, Ms. Stauffer was the head of reporting, policy and strategy at the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in Baghdad, Iraq, between 2018 and 2022. Her work focused on reporting needs, serving as the secretariat, and enhancing humanitarian operations in a volatile environment.

Between 2016 and 2018, Ms. Stauffer served as a special assistant to the deputy director of the Operations and Advocacy Division at the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in New York City. In this role, she provided high-level support and contributed to advocacy initiatives to improve global humanitarian coordination.

Ms. Stauffer’s academic engagement included serving as a visiting fellow at the Center for Women, Peace and Security at The London School of Economics and Political Science from 2015 to 2016. She also held a visiting fellowship at the Center for the Study of Human Rights at The London School of Economics and Political Science between 2014 and 2015. Earlier, Ms. Stauffer held several consulting roles, was a blogger and columnist.

From 2012 to 2013, Ms. Stauffer was a deputy director for Reprieve UK, a legal action non-governmental organization. She also excelled as a legal officer at the International Labor Organization in Switzerland between 2011 and 2012 and as a program manager at the Justice Training Center in Singapore.

Ms. Stauffer holds a Bachelor of Arts in international affairs from James Madison University since 1999, and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of San Diego since 2005. Her legal credentials also include admission to practice before the D.C. Bar Association.

Beyond her professional achievements, Ms. Stauffer has engaged in civic work as a volunteer with the Capital Area Food Bank. She is also recognized for her contributions as an author of academic book chapters on humanitarian affairs.

Throughout her career, Ms. Stauffer has credited her success to adaptability, empathy and extroversion. She emphasizes accepting imperfect realities and adjusting strategies within large institutions. Her commitment to mentorship and inclusive hiring practices reflects her advocacy for broadening access to international careers beyond traditional elite backgrounds.
