Title: Executive Director
Company: Hill Country SPCA
Location: Fredericksburg, Texas, United States
Andrew L. Davis, executive director of the Hill Country Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA), has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in nonprofits and animal welfare.
Beginning his career in media, Mr. Davis has successfully shifted into the world of nonprofits, placing passion front and center in all of his endeavors. Aspiring to become a broadcast news anchor from a young age, he first became a radio DJ for Mainquad Communications, now Aleph Media USA LLC, in 1999, hosting a top 40 radio show. The next year, Mr. Davis’ childhood dream came true as he took on the role of news anchor for KLEW, where he led the station’s evening news program at 11 p.m., as well as handling many sports broadcasts. He gained significant business experience across more than 10 years as the president of International Assurance Inc.
Following these early efforts, Mr. Davis accepted a position as president of Apollo Productions Inc., a music management company. Eager to explore his interests more broadly, he contributed as a tennis coach with A’s & Aces, mentoring hundreds of youth from underserved communities. Mr. Davis continued his transition into nonprofits as the creative director for Affinity for ALL People, a group dedicated to bringing people together, where he also spent several years organizing the Unity Fest musical event. His more recent efforts have included tenures as the director of operations for DLA Companies and sales representative for International Wines & Craft Beer.
Since 2022, Mr. Davis has embraced his love of animals, serving as the executive director of the Hill Country SPCA. Founded in 1997, this nonprofit group serves the entirety of the Hill Country region of Texas, including parts of Central and South Texas, by sheltering and advocating for pets and providing opportunities for them to be adopted. To help achieve this mission, Mr. Davis utilizes his unique blend of past expertise in both nonprofits and running for-profit businesses, enabling him to foster practical success that sustains and grows the group. When he joined the Hill Country SPCA, it was struggling financially, but under his leadership, it has turned around and experienced significant growth, going from 320 completed adoptions in 2022 to an estimated more than 1,100 in 2025.
Among his accomplishments with the Hill Country SPCA, Mr. Davis is especially proud of having expanded the organization’s core mission to include all domestic animals, from dogs and cats to ferrets, goats and other less common pets. The nonprofit rescued its first six horses ever in the past two years and even currently cares for two pythons. Though Mr. Davis never envisioned rescuing snakes, he’s formed a deep bond with one of the two pythons, which regularly curls up around his neck while he works. Mr. Davis also notes the significance of having restarted the Hill Country SPCA’s Healing Hearts fundraiser program. Through this, the company has raised $50,000 to support caring for vulnerable and at-risk animals, saving them from euthanasia.
Beyond his primary vocation, Mr. Davis finds continued fulfillment from engaging in creative work, including writing poetry and short stories and performing stand-up comedy. Since 2021, he has been a writer and stand-up comedian at the Bare Bones Comedy Extravaganza in Fredericksburg, Texas. Mr. Davis’ professional journey has been supported by his education, including earning an associate degree in television broadcasting, television and radio from the Carolina School of Broadcasting in 2000. He was certified as a beer server by the Cicerone Certification Program in 2022.
In addition to his esteemed career, Mr. Davis is happily married. He enjoys writing, traveling and attending concerts in his free time. Turning his eyes toward the future, Mr. Davis is working to rebrand the Hill Country SPCA to Hill Country Animal Rescue in 2026. After that, he hopes to further expand the organization’s reach and is considering opening additional shelters in other counties or cities to provide community members with more no-kill shelter options. He also plans to focus on empowering others within Hill Country SPCA and potentially other nonprofit groups to grow, collaborate and find success across Texas and nationwide.
