Mr. Katny, lauded for his expertise as a life and emotional intelligence coach, founded Highway to Happiness in 2023. Drawing on his personal experiences and challenges, he established his practice with the mission of helping individuals reshape their perspectives, find their identities and work through any trauma they may have experienced to overcome their obstacles. Through this work, Mr. Katny also aims to empower clients to become the best version of themselves. Beyond working with clients, he manages day-to-day operations, such as appointments, to ensure personalized attention.
Before pivoting into coaching and launching his practice, Mr. Katny enjoyed a successful career in engineering. For over a decade, he excelled in his leading role as the chief operations officer at DJK Building Maintenance Inc. in the Greater Chicago area from 2011 to 2023. In this capacity, Mr. Katny oversaw daily operations and contributed to the company’s growth and efficiency, focusing on financial performance and building on a foundation of leadership and organizational skills.
Recruited from Fresenius Kabi AG, Mr. Katny worked as a contract engineer in Melrose Park, Illinois, between 2013 and 2014. In this engineering role, he applied technical expertise to support projects within the health care sector. During this same time frame, Mr. Katny taught at Arthur Murray Chicago, where he shared his passion for dance and movement with students, fostering confidence and personal development.
Earlier, Mr. Katny was a division manager at Primerica in Indianapolis from 2010 to 2012. There, he managed teams and developed strategies for client engagement and financial services delivery. Previously, he worked as a mechanical engineer at Wolf Technical Services in Indianapolis between 2008 and 2011. Mr. Katny began his career in 2004 at Focus Surgery Inc., also in Indianapolis, as a product development engineer.
Mr. Katny’s academic background includes earning a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering with a focus on physics from the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, Indiana, in 2004. The analytical skills and problem-solving abilities developed during his studies have been instrumental throughout his diverse career path.
Beyond work, Mr. Katny has demonstrated a strong commitment to civic engagement through various volunteer roles and charitable activities. He is a supporter of the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and sponsors children through the child sponsorship program organized by the Christian Convention. Earlier, Mr. Katny volunteered with Journey Community Church and at another local church in Indiana.
In addition to his professional pursuits, Mr. Katny is an author whose work includes “Ascendance: How to Unlock Your Inner Intelligence,” published by Matrix Investments in 2016. This publication reflects his dedication to helping others realize their potential through self-awareness and emotional growth.
Mr. Katny’s journey into coaching was influenced by his experience operating a family business founded by his parents in 1996, before transitioning to a practice focused on personal growth and emotional intelligence. He attributes much of his success to his family’s unwavering support and persistence.
Mr. Katny regards the founding of Highway to Happiness as his most significant professional achievement, viewing it as his purpose to help others and effect meaningful change in their lives. Looking ahead, he aims to transform the conversation surrounding mental health by advocating for more effective approaches that empower individuals to reclaim control over their lives.
