Daniel P. Casciano

Title: Board President
Company:
Colonial Country Club
Location:
Fort Myers, Florida, United States

Daniel P. Casciano, board president of the Colonial Country Club, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in technology and risk management.

Always eager to challenge himself, Mr. Casciano devoted the majority of his professional life of nearly 35 years to EY, formerly Ernst & Young. Joining the organization in 1989, he established himself over the next four years. Mr. Casciano briefly left EY from 1993 to 1996, becoming a manager at Gerber Scientific. However, he returned to EY in 1996 as a manager, followed soon after by a promotion to senior manager.

Having demonstrated his value to EY, Mr. Casciano became a principal with the company in 2002, a position he would hold for the next 20 years. During this lengthy tenure, he led the company’s information technology (IT) risk-enabled performance management practice. Mr. Casciano’s duties included building enterprise, IT and third-party risk management programs and implementing governance, risk and compliance (GRC) products to support clients. He managed a national team of 450 professionals working with clients across the United States.

After an extensive career that he was deeply proud of, Mr. Casciano retired from EY in 2022. Determined to give back to his community, he joined the master board of the Colonial Country Club that same year and has served as the board president since 2023. By bringing his well-honed skills to this new challenge, Mr. Casciano has discovered that many of his professional talents are equally well-suited to his work with the Colonial Country Club. Most notably, he has proven experience communicating clearly, building trust in relationships, developing a strong vision and strategy to achieve that vision, and leading with facts rather than emotion.

While Mr. Casciano has found that people who are invested in the club’s future can have strong emotional reactions to any changes, he has showcased the ability to thoughtfully navigate disagreements between the club’s almost 1,700 members, leading the operation in major new initiatives. One of his first initiatives was successfully advocating for a $9.5 million renovation of the Colonial Country Club’s golf course. The refreshed course will reopen in 2025, followed by the completion of renovations to the community center in 2026. Under Mr. Casciano’s guidance, the club has received a noteworthy boost in accolades, including being named one of America’s Healthiest Clubs. The Colonial Country Club was recognized as an Elite Status Distinguished Club by BoardRoom Magazine, marking it in the top 3% of clubs globally.

In both his primary career at EY and his latest endeavor with the country club, Mr. Casciano has been supported by his education. He earned a Bachelor of Science in computer science from Southern Connecticut State University in 1989.

Reflecting his contributions to the community, Mr. Casciano was the subject of a recent article in BoardRoom Magazine titled “The Importance of Being Authentic, Genuine and Humble: Leadership Lessons From a Board President.” Written by the Colonial Country Club’s general manager, this piece outlines the attitude toward organizing a group that Mr. Casciano adopted during his professional life. Among these lessons, he emphasizes the importance of being selfless and focusing on the needs of others.

In addition to his esteemed work history, Mr. Casciano is a loving and dedicated family man to his wife, three children and two grandchildren. He enjoys golfing, playing tennis and exercising. Mr. Casciano will continue in his role as board president at the Colonial Country Club to the end of his term in 2026 and hasn’t yet decided if he will run for another term. Regardless of that choice, he looks forward to continuing to contribute to the club and hopes to explore opportunities for helping other clubs with governance challenges.
