Vincent T. Mileto

Title: Chief Operating Officer
Company:
Orcosa
Location:
Flemington, New Jersey, United States

Vincent T. Mileto, Chief Operating Officer at Orcosa, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements and leadership in the Biotechnology Industry.

Mr. Mileto currently serves as the co-founder and chief operating officer of Orcosa, a pharmaceutical development firm he established in 2018 with two partners. Since 2020, he has overseen operations, guiding the company’s mission to revolutionize medication delivery systems. Mr. Mileto’s expertise as a scientist and operations leader ensures rigorous quality and manufacturing standards, while his partners manage regulatory affairs and intellectual property strategy. He is also the lead inventor on Orcosa’s first patent and designated his lead engineer as the lead inventor on their second patent to recognize their collaboration. Recently, they received approval for their European patent.

Under Mr. Mileto’s leadership, Orcosa developed a tablet about the size of a U.S. dime that disintegrates in under five seconds when placed in the buccal pocket of the cheek, allowing for direct absorption into the bloodstream through the oral mucosa. This innovation reduces dosage requirements and enhances both drug safety and patient compliance. Orcosa’s research extends to pediatric formulations and treatments for diseases prevalent in regions with limited access to clean water, such as diarrhea and malaria.

Notably, Orcosa’s lead drug is undergoing phase two clinical trials at NYU Langone, following a successful phase one trial that demonstrated a more than 25% reduction in opioid usage for post-surgical pain relief after arthroscopic rotator cuff repair. The study, which involved 100 participants and was conducted in partnership with Dr. Kevin Kaplan and Michael Alaia, yielded statistically significant results in pain reduction and patient satisfaction. These findings were presented at the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine conferences and published in the American Journal of Sports Medicine.

Before launching Orcosa, Mr. Mileto was the vice president and general manager at Concours Pharmaceuticals from 2018 to 2020, overseeing business operations and contributing to strategic growth initiatives in the pharmaceutical sector. Between 2016 and 2018, he served as the director of external manufacturing and quality at NewMarket Pharmaceuticals.

Mr. Mileto briefly held the position of technical services leader at Catalent, Inc., in 2016, providing technical guidance on advanced drug-delivery projects. He began his career with the organization in 2007 as a senior auditor in quality assurance operations for five years. He then spent 2012 to 2016 as an operations manager for advanced delivery technologies.

Mr. Mileto’s earlier tenure included his role as a quality assurance auditor specializing in analytical processes at Cardinal Health from 2006 to 2007. He initially served as a lead auditor at Sandoz Group AG starting in 2005.

Mr. Mileto’s academic foundation includes an Associate of Arts in liberal arts from Ocean County College in Toms River, New Jersey, completed in 1996, and a Bachelor of Science in biology with a minor in chemistry from Monmouth University in West Long Branch, New Jersey, earned in 1999. His education provided him with a strong scientific background that has been instrumental throughout his career in pharmaceutical development and manufacturing. In addition to his formal education, Mr. Mileto is a certified GMP professional in the pharmaceutical industry from the American Society for Quality.

An active member of professional organizations, Mr. Mileto is affiliated with the American Society for Quality and the Parenteral Drug Association. Beyond his professional pursuits, he has contributed as a volunteer to booster clubs supporting youth activities and previously to Scouting America and the Naval Sea Cadet Corps.

Mr. Mileto’s achievements have garnered recognition within the industry. In 2025, he was named among NJBIZ’s People to Watch in Healthcare by BridgeTower Media after participating in an NJBIZ podcast recorded shortly after presenting at the BioNJ conference for the pharmaceutical industry. Mr. Mileto attributes his success to hard work, determination, support from his wife and family, and a willingness to embrace risk to pursue entrepreneurial ventures.

Looking ahead, Mr. Mileto is committed to growing Orcosa into a successful company that delivers impactful products to market, particularly those benefiting pediatric populations. He also aims to expand operations by establishing a full-scale manufacturing facility in New Jersey that would provide employment opportunities. Mr. Mileto hopes his legacy will be defined by integrity, dedication to family, and meaningful contributions that inspire future generations to pursue excellence and make a positive difference in the world.
