Since 2024, he has served as the vice president of product and technology for Trucker Path Inc. in Chicago, overseeing the data, engineering, product and design departments for Trucker Path Insurance. In this capacity, Mr. Smith plays a pivotal role in leading the AI transformation effort across multiple holding companies. His work at Trucker Path Inc. allows him to leverage his expertise in product development and product building while providing the autonomy to drive large-scale change. Additionally, he has expanded insurance brokerage services at scale and reached millions of individuals in the logistics industry.

In addition to his primary responsibilities at Trucker Path Inc., Mr. Smith has served as an adviser to Claimbrite since 2024, contributing his insights on insurance technology and operational strategy. Also based in Chicago, Claimbrite serves as a self-settlement platform for non-complex personal injury claims.

Before his current roles, Mr. Smith was engaged in academia as a guest lecturer in mathematics, computer science and product design at Loyola University Chicago from 2023 to 2024. He previously served as an adjunct professor of mathematics on campus between 2022 and 2023, becoming the youngest adjunct professor in the institution’s history. Mr. Smith’s academic contributions also included serving as a teaching assistant at the University of Chicago in 2022 and at Loyola University Chicago in 2019.

Mr. Smith’s earlier career in the field included serving as a founding product manager and engineer at LuckyTruck, an insurance startup he co-founded after meeting Devin Bostick, from 2020 to 2021, and then as the vice president of product and technology until 2024. He managed data, engineering, design and product teams while guiding the company through substantial growth, from inception to approximately 100 employees and millions in revenue. Notably, during his graduate studies, Mr. Smith led a team of over 45 employees while attending classes and navigated the company through an economic recession, making difficult staff-reduction decisions. Under his leadership, LuckyTruck raised around $10 million in venture funding from prominent insurance companies such as Sirius Point, Markd and Candid Insurance Partners, as well as investment from the chief executive officer of Angi, formerly Angie’s List. In July 2024, LuckyTruck was acquired by Lancer Financial Group, a subsidiary of Core Specialty based in Ohio.

Among other notable opportunities, Mr. Smith advised Strada Art Inc. between 2020 and 2021, founded CRC Excel Solutions from 2018 to 2019, and served as a corporate trainer at NRG Global Inc. in 2018.

Mr. Smith’s academic background has been instrumental in shaping his professional trajectory. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics and computer science in 2021 and a Master of Science in mathematics in 2022 from Loyola University Chicago. He also holds numerous certifications that have supported his technical proficiency and business acumen, including Microsoft certifications in Word and Excel, and the Office Master designation. He also received Zoho Creator Workflow Wizard certification from Zoho, and entrepreneurship and small business certification from Certiport – A Pearson VUE Business.

Throughout his career, Mr. Smith has been actively involved with several industry-related organizations. Most notably, he has been a founding member of Density Collective since 2024. Beyond his professional pursuits, he remains actively engaged with civic-minded organizations and research initiatives. He volunteers with organizations such as Seven Elements, participates in Emergency Data Relief’s COVID-19 policy data projects for Broadstreet, tutors mathematics at Loyola University Chicago, and, among other endeavors, donates to the Above and Beyond Family Recovery Center.

Mr. Smith’s creative output includes authoring “Modern Compression Using Representation Theory and the FFT” published on ResearchGate, and “Just an Idle Thursday?” featured on Medium.com and LinkedIn Publishing. He has also developed personal applications, such as the Public Bathroom Finder, Mixpanel Mobile Analytics and Moped Safe Navigation.

In light of his accomplishments, Mr. Smith was recognized as a finalist for the Top 50 Tech Visionaries Award by InterCon in 2019. Looking ahead, he aims to continue excelling by developing innovations that can positively impact millions while continuing efforts to scale Trucker Path Insurance before eventually returning to launch another venture in the technology sector.
