Esmond Lewis, Director at Collier County Education Association, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements and leadership in Labor Law.
Mr. Lewis has distinguished himself as a dedicated advocate for educators and education professionals through his leadership at the Collier County Education Association. Since 2022, he has served as the organization’s director, representing approximately 3,100 teachers and more than 1,200 non-instructional staff. In this capacity, Mr. Lewis has been instrumental in labor negotiations, dispute resolution between teachers and the Collier County Public School system and annual collective bargaining for three unions. Drawing on his extensive background as a lawyer, he manages contract drafting and complex negotiations with a focus on achieving meaningful outcomes for members.
Over the past three years, Mr. Lewis has guided the Collier County Education Association to unprecedented success in collective bargaining. Under his stewardship, the organization achieved the highest annual financial gains for its members, a hallmark achievement that stands as his career’s most significant victory. These accomplishments have positively impacted thousands of educators and support staff, reflecting Mr. Lewis’s commitment to advancing the interests of those he represents.
Before his current role, Mr. Lewis served as a consultant with E Lewis Consulting from 2019 to 2023, providing strategic guidance and leveraging his legal expertise to help clients navigate complex challenges, including human resources issues, compliance matters, and diversity, inclusion and fairness in the workplace.
Between 2010 and 2019, Mr. Lewis operated the Esmond Lewis Law Firm as an attorney specializing in civil and business litigation. His practice was marked by a dedication to client service and a reputation for thorough preparation and zealous representation in court, with expertise spanning business and corporate law, intellectual property law, health care law, entertainment law, construction law and more.
Mr. Lewis garnered early success as an intellectual property and litigation attorney at Tigrent Inc. from 2007 to 2010, where he handled matters related to copyrights, trademarks and business disputes. He began his legal career at Pavese Law Firm in 2004, focusing on civil litigation and gaining valuable experience in dispute resolution. While still in college, Mr. Lewis worked as a technology licensing associate at The Ohio State University from 1999 to 2001. His career began as a chemist with Energizer in 1995.
Mr. Lewis’s academic journey began with a Bachelor of Science in chemistry from the University of Florida in 1995. He soon after completed a Master of Business Administration, with honors, from Ohio University, conferred in 1999, and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from The Ohio State University in 2004.
Throughout his career, Mr. Lewis has remained actively involved in industry-related organizations. He is a member of the Florida Staff Organization and serves on the board of the Southwest Florida Educational and Leadership Foundation. Beyond his professional pursuits, Mr. Lewis is committed to religious and civic engagement. He serves as a trustee for Friendship Baptist Church, is the director of a youth choir and is affiliated with Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc.
Mr. Lewis’s entry into law was inspired by personal interests in music composition and copyright issues, which sparked an enduring curiosity about intellectual property rights. Although initially drawn toward entertainment law during law school, he discovered a passion for courtroom advocacy, a path that would define much of his professional life.
As he looks ahead, Mr. Lewis remains focused on expanding membership in the Collier County Education Association and enhancing educators’ professional lives through improved financial conditions and working environments. He is also committed to supporting education professionals through county government initiatives and advancing local legislation that will further benefit those he serves.
