Before joining Hermès, Mr. Levit served as a master tailor and fitter at The Tailory New York from 2022 to 2023. Between 2016 and 2019, Mr. Levit contributed his talents as a tailor and sample maker at Alexander Wang Inc. There, he was instrumental in creating prototypes and samples that met the brand’s exacting standards. His proficiency in garment construction and fabric manipulation was vital to developing new collections.
Among other opportunities, Mr. Levit worked for several other recognizable brands. He was a master tailor and fitter at LISTO DESIGNS Ltd. for over a decade beginning in 2005. He held the same position at CHANEL from 2002 to 2005, during which he built enduring relationships with clients who continued to seek his services decades later. The loyalty of these clients is a testament to the exceptional quality of Mr. Levit’s work and the personal rapport he cultivated with them.
Earlier in his professional journey, Mr. Levit worked as a tailor at Giorgio Armani S.p.A. between 1997 and 2001, where he honed his skills in luxury tailoring and garment finishing. He also spent two years with Henri Bendel Inc., beginning in 1995.
Mr. Levit’s educational background includes a bachelor’s degree, which provided a strong foundation for his technical expertise and professional growth. Influenced by his mother, he entered the tailoring profession after completing eighth grade by enrolling in a two-year vocational program focused on women’s tailoring. Mr. Levit subsequently gained experience in production manufacturing before serving in the military. After completing his service, he resumed work in tailoring until relocating to the U.S. in 1992. In America, he began specializing in leather production, mastering techniques related to leather garments and accessories, a field that remains one of his greatest passions.
Throughout his career, Mr. Levit has attributed his success to taking every task seriously, striving for thoroughness, and learning from both achievements and setbacks. His meticulous attention to detail has been instrumental in achieving recognition as an elite specialist within the tailoring community.
