Mr. Johnson has enjoyed a notable career in information technology (IT) and infrastructure management, currently serving as an associate director of IT service delivery and security at Kyndryl Inc. In this capacity since 2021, he manages up to 30 employees worldwide, overseeing the development and implementation of backup, replication and security technologies tailored to client requirements.
Acquired by the organization in 2021, Mr. Johnson initially served as an IT manager, playing a pivotal role in establishing the company following its spin-off from IBM. Since joining the organization, he has been instrumental in supporting growth by leveraging his extensive background in storage and infrastructure management. He also demonstrated his expertise in building high-performing teams.
Before joining Kyndryl Inc., Mr. Johnson held several leadership positions at IBM. From 2018 to 2021, he served as the delivery manager for transition and transformation cloud-managed backup within the business continuity and resiliency services division. In this role, he led teams that migrated clients’ critical data systems to cloud-based platforms, ensuring seamless transitions and robust data protection.
Mr. Johnson began his career at IBM in 2005 as a storage consultant and engineer. Over the years, he progressed to technical team lead and team lead. From 2002 to 2005, he worked for EDS, HP Development Company L.P., as a senior storage engineer. Mr. Johnson’s foundational experience included roles as a senior programmer and system administrator at Honeywell Information Systems (now Honeywell International Inc.) from 1998 to 2001, where he managed mission-critical systems for industrial applications. He began his professional journey as a lead programmer and analyst at Sumitomo Machinery Corporation of America, Sumitomo Heavy Industries Ltd., from 1996 to 1998, developing software solutions.
Before his tenure in the field, Mr. Johnson served four years in the U.S. Navy following high school graduation during the first Gulf War. His educational background includes an Associate of Science in computer programming from ECPI University, completed in 1996, and an undergraduate degree in computer and IT administration and management from the University of Phoenix, earned in 2005. These academic credentials were made possible through the GI Bill following Mr. Johnson’s military service.
In addition to his degrees, Mr. Johnson continued his professional development through numerous certifications. Among them, he received several credentials through IBM as a certified first-line manager and cognitive practitioner. He also received designations from LearnKartS in information security foundations, cybersecurity threats and defense, and CompTIA Security+, equipping him with advanced knowledge essential for managing modern IT environments securely.
Mr. Johnson is an active member of the Southern California Golf Association. His civic involvement also includes serving as the board president of his homeowners’ association and supporting various veterans’ initiatives. As a golfer, Mr. Johnson has received several awards, including First Place at the North County Junior Golf Association tournament in 2024.
Throughout his professional journey, Mr. Johnson has developed deep expertise in infrastructure management.
