Title: Managing Director
Company:
Wilmington Trust
Location:
Naples, Florida, United States

Curt C. Edwards, CFP, ChFC, CAIA, CLU, CDFA, managing director at Wilmington Trust, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in wealth management and financial services.

When Mr. Edwards graduated from college in 1989, his initial plan was to become an investment banker. This plan faced a major barrier immediately: Wall Street had just crashed, and very few financial analysts and investment bankers were being hired or trained. Pivoting to start his professional journey from a different angle, Mr. Edwards became a cost accountant at a small company in Massachusetts. He later moved to Florida and started an entrepreneurial venture, which he subsequently sold.

Throughout the 1990s, Mr. Edwards was associated with PaineWebber & Co., an investment bank. At this firm, he was finally able to establish his expertise in the financial services sector. By the mid-2000s, Mr. Edwards began a progression of notable roles in the industry. Among other opportunities, he contributed as a senior investment strategist at Wells Fargo, a senior portfolio manager at the United States Trust Company and wealth management team lead at JPMorgan Chase & Co.

From 2012 to 2021, Mr. Edwards held the role of director at Fifth Third Bank in South Florida. Having garnered a reputation for his skill at turning around failing organizations, he joined Fifth Third Bank at a time when it was operating at a loss. With Mr. Edwards’ guidance, the bank began generating more than a million dollars in profit within four years. He considers this instance a highlight of his career and a core example of his strengths in action.

After leaving Fifth Third Bank in 2021, Mr. Edwards briefly returned to JPMorgan Chase & Co as an executive director. Since 2022, he has served as a managing director at Wilmington Trust. Mr. Edwards oversees the Southeast region for the company, which focuses on wealth management services such as investment, estate planning and private banking. He directly advises high-net-worth families on investing money, donating to philanthropic causes and more.

Mr. Edwards’ performance in the field was born of his academic journey. He earned a bachelor’s degree in finance from Boston University in 1989. Dedicated to continued improvement, Mr. Edwards has sought professional training to support and diversify his skills. He is certified in health and life insurance through the Florida Department of Financial Services, as a divorce financial analyst through the Institute for Divorce Financial Analysts, as a financial planner through the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, and in the implications of artificial intelligence on business strategy through the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Sloan School of Management. Mr. Edwards has been chartered as a life underwriter and as a financial consultant, both through The American College of Financial Services. In connection with the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, he has completed extensive training as a general securities principal, a general securities representative, a general securities sales supervisor, a state uniform securities agent and a uniform investment adviser.

In addition to his career, Mr. Edwards has been happily married to his wife for more than 20 years, and the couple has recently adopted a border terrier dog. He enjoys golfing, playing sports, partaking in athletic activities with his wife, and spending time with his extended family, especially his many nieces and nephews. Looking to the future, Mr. Edwards intends to continue growing Wilmington Trust’s success in the Southeast region. In the three years he has been affiliated with the company, he has led it from nothing to over one billion dollars in assets, but he is eager to showcase even further growth and success in the years ahead.
