Before being named chief financial officer, Mr. Rivera served as the interim chief financial officer at Wizeline Inc. from 2024 to 2025. He was initially hired in 2023 as a senior director of financial planning and analysis and corporate finance, overseeing strategic financial initiatives and supporting organizational transformation.

In addition to his contributions at Wizeline Inc., Mr. Rivera has excelled as a career coach at ModernGuild since 2017. Based in New York City, he has been instrumental in mentoring and coaching more than 250 corporate-sponsored undergraduate students seeking to start careers in finance, sharing insights gained from his own journey through turbulent markets and organizational transformations.

Before joining Wizeline Inc., Mr. Rivera served as a senior manager in financial planning and analysis and corporate finance at OwnBackup, a New Jersey-based data security company, from 2022 to 2023, following a year as a manager in the same division. He also worked as an associate at Brunswick Group, LLC, between 2019 and 2021, where he provided strategic advisory services to C-suite executives, corporate finance groups and investor relations teams.

Mr. Rivera’s earlier experience included serving as an investment banking associate at Citigroup Inc. from 2017 to 2019, following a summer associate role in investment banking with the firm in 2016. At Citigroup Inc., he developed expertise in mergers and acquisitions and advisory mandates.

Mr. Rivera’s career began in the wake of the global financial crisis, starting as a financial adviser with Waddell & Reed Financial Advisors from 2009 to 2010. He then joined Banco Santander S.A. Santander as an associate between 2010 and 2011 before moving to UBS as an investment banking analyst from 2011 to 2013. Mr. Rivera subsequently served as a head trader at Popular, Inc., between 2013 and 2015.

Mr. Rivera’s academic background has been foundational to his success. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in economics from Yale University in 2009 and a Master of Business Administration, summa cum laude, from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., in 2017. During his advanced studies, Mr. Rivera received the Daniel Walker McNeal Award and was named a McGowan Fellow by the William G. McGowan Charitable Fund for his leadership potential and commitment to ethical business practices.

In addition to his formal education, Mr. Rivera pursued additional professional certifications. He received Series 79 and Series 63 certifications through the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority. He also became a registered Scrum Master through Agile Education by Scrum Inc. Mr. Rivera maintains active memberships as a fellow with Toigo, JumpStart and Management Leadership for Tomorrow’s Professional Development Program under the U.S. Department of State.

Throughout his career, Mr. Rivera has demonstrated expertise in investment banking, technical aspects of finance, building teams and mentoring future leaders. He attributes much of his success to the values instilled by his parents during his upbringing in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Looking ahead, Mr. Rivera aims to continue excelling in his role as the chief financial officer of his organization, leading companies through dynamic periods in the technology industry while upholding the values that have guided him throughout his journey.
