Mr. Smithart’s expertise includes fleet maintenance, custom management and asset management, all of which have been instrumental in driving operational excellence for the organization.
Before joining DFW Reefer Repair, Mr. Smithart was a district manager at Great Dane LLC, a truck transportation company headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, from 2024 to 2026. During this time, he oversaw district operations, including multi-site parts and service operations across Springdale, Illinois, Little Rock, Arkansas, and Dallas, Texas, while hiring top talent and ensuring high-quality service standards.
From 2022 to 2024, Mr. Smithart excelled as the director of operations at Epika Fleet Services Inc. Here, he oversaw multi-state parts and service operations throughout the Southeast U.S. remotely. His most notable achievement during this period was leading the expansion of the company’s network through mergers and acquisitions. Mr. Smithart played a pivotal role in revitalizing businesses on the brink of closure, preserving the legacies built by their founders and creating new financial opportunities for stakeholders.
Between 2018 and 2022, Mr. Smithart served as the director of maintenance at C.R. England, where he managed maintenance programs across both U.S. and Mexico operations. Relocating with his family to Salt Lake City for this opportunity, he found overseeing multi-location operations highly rewarding. Mr. Smithart was recruited to the company from Arnold Transportation Services, based in Grand Prairie, Texas, where, from 2014 to 2018, he served as the company’s director of fleet maintenance, asset and fuel management.
Mr. Smithart’s earlier career included a decade-long tenure at Stevens Transport, beginning in 2004, during which he advanced from a basic call center position in the breakdown department to accident manager through strong problem-solving and leadership skills. He began his professional journey with Schneider Electric after completing a 13-month contract as a truck driver, a path he had not initially planned but one that provided invaluable firsthand insight into the transportation industry.
Following high school, Mr. Smithart completed college coursework in economics at North Central Texas College in Gainesville, Florida, in 1998. He pursued continuous learning by earning numerous credentials, including a Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act professional certification from the North American Learning Institute. Mr. Smithart has held numerous designations through LinkedIn Learning since 2021, including Lean Six Sigma foundations, Six Sigma green belt, and certified merger and acquisition advisor. These credentials have equipped him with advanced skills in process improvement, compliance, leadership and team collaboration, qualities that have directly contributed to his professional achievements.
Mr. Smithart is recognized for his commitment to professional development and industry engagement as a member of the Technology and Maintenance Council, reflecting his dedication to staying connected with advancements in fleet services. Civically, he is affiliated with the Elks Club.
Among his accolades, Mr. Smithart won the National Food Marketing Written Event sponsored by DECA Inc., demonstrating early excellence in business-related competitions. He attributes his success to the drive and work ethic instilled by his grandfather, and to the desire to make his grandfather, his mother, and his uncle proud. Mr. Smithart strives daily to give his best to everyone he interacts with, believing that true success is measured by fulfilling this standard.
Looking ahead, Mr. Smithart intends to focus on developing a small company with strong growth potential. He also plans to expand his knowledge through additional certifications and may pursue further formal education as part of his ongoing commitment to personal growth and achievement.
