Mohammed Choum, Project Executive at Vertcon Builders, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in Construction Administration.
Mr. Choum has established a recognizable career in construction management, marked by two decades of progressive leadership and technical expertise. Currently serving as a project executive at Vertcon Builders since 2025, he oversees overall project strategy, leads multidisciplinary teams and manages large-scale budgets for complex developments.
Presently serving as the project executive on the construction of an approximately 800-foot mixed-use tower in Midtown Manhattan valued at more than $250 million, this significant project attests to Mr. Choum’s ability to deliver high-profile projects with demanding engineering and logistical requirements. Headquartered in New York City, Vertcon Builders specializes in high-rise construction throughout the city and the tri-state area. Before his current role, Mr. Choum served as a senior project manager at his construction firm from 2023 to 2025, where he directed major initiatives and contributed to the firm’s reputation for excellence.
Before being acquired by Vertcon Builders, Mr. Choum was employed by Ryder Construction Inc. in New York City as a senior project manager from 2022 to 2023. This role allowed him to further refine his skills in managing multifaceted projects within the city’s dynamic environment. Between 2021 and 2022, Mr. Choum served as a project manager at Mega Contracting Group LLC, where he coordinated teams and ensured the timely delivery of construction milestones.
Mr. Choum’s earlier experience included the roles of assistant project manager and project manager at AMA Construction NY Inc. between 2011 and 2015. He also worked for THINK Construction in 2013 as an assistant project manager. Mr. Choum’s early professional journey began as a superintendent at Alittle of Everything from 2010 to 2011 and as a special inspector at Municipal Testing Lab between 2008 and 2009, where he developed a keen understanding of site operations and regulatory compliance, as well as foundational skills that would inform his later leadership positions.
Mr. Choum’s academic background laid a strong foundation for his career achievements. He earned a Bachelor of Science in construction management from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York, in 2014, after graduating from Fort Hamilton High School in Brooklyn in 2006. Mr. Choum further distinguished himself through multiple professional credentials in 2025, including as a certified construction manager from the Construction Management Association of America, with a senior construction professional credential and project management professional certification from the Project Management Institute (PMI), with a chartered construction manager designation from the Chartered Institute of Building, and with site safety manager and construction superintendent licenses from the New York City Department of Buildings.
In addition to his primary work, Mr. Choum’s commitment to professional development is reflected in his active membership in PMI. This affiliation underscores his dedication to advancing industry standards and best practices.
Among Mr. Choum’s most notable achievements was his work on the Ace Hotel Brooklyn project, a milestone that stands out both for its complexity and its visibility within the industry. Promoted to team lead at age 30, he became the youngest individual to hold that position on a project of such scale and intricacy. The assignment required coordination with multiple city agencies, including the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, the New York City Department of Buildings and the state’s Department of Transportation. The structural challenges were considerable, involving advanced engineering solutions and extensive isolation work for a high-profile hotel recognized for its striking design. Mr. Choum regards this accomplishment as a highlight of his career.
Mr. Choum attributes his accomplishments to a supportive network and an unwavering work ethic shaped by his immigrant family background. Inspired by his father, a Lebanese immigrant who learned tiling in Beirut during the 1980s before returning to the United States, he views construction as both a family legacy and a personal calling.
Throughout his career, Mr. Choum has demonstrated exceptional expertise in construction management oversight and leadership. These qualities have earned him recognition among his peers for his ongoing contributions to the field. Looking ahead, Mr. Choum remains dedicated to mentoring those entering the field, including guiding young relatives who have recently joined the industry. He also aspires to ascend to executive leadership within a construction firm while continuing to make a meaningful impact on the profession through innovation.
