Linda Gay

Title: Human Resources Director (Retired)
Location: Tewksbury, Massachusetts, United States

Linda Gay, Retired Human Resources Director, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership.

Ms. Gay’s decision to work in a position of service as a human resources director stems from her abilities to be a good listener and problem solver. Knowing the value of neutrality and compromise, she excels at coming up with solutions that work for both sides of an issue or disagreement. These skills have come into play with her work in representing companies and employees. She began her work in human resources as the assistant manager of affirmative action for the Raytheon Company. After serving in this post from 1974 to 1980, she continued Wang Laboratories as a senior human resources representative. After five years in this post, she spent a year as a recruiter with Zayre Corporation before joining Cablevision as the Director of Human Resources. She provided her skills and services here until 1996.

Another important venture in Ms. Gay’s life is her dedication to supporting education programs on the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. What prompted Ms. Gay to become so involved was the tragedy of losing her husband, Peter A. Gay, on American Airlines Flight 11. In the nearly two decades following this day, Ms. Gay has put everything on hold in her life to continue raising their daughter and raising educational awareness of the events. A highlight of Ms. Gay’s career is creating an education program for the Massachusetts 9/11 Fund. The education program is for Massachusetts high school students. She was the very first family member to be voted onto the board of the 9/11 Fund.

In addition to her civic work for the 9/11 Fund, Ms. Gay has also dedicated her time to other ventures, including volunteering for the Tewksbury Senior Center, serving as an administrator leader trainee and leader for the Girl Scouts of America and being a former president and treasurer of a Parent Teacher Organization. In her career, she was aided in professional development with affiliation to the Boston chapter of Women in Cable, the Northeast Human Resource Association and the Minority Human Resource Association. Ms. Gay attributes her success to being mentored by every female manager she has worked with. They would push her to the next level even when she did not see it herself.
