A well-seasoned and multi-faceted entrepreneur, Mr. Kovac has excelled as both the founder and chief executive officer of 10th Street Entertainment, a world-class artist management company and Better Noise Music (formerly known as Eleven Seven Records), an independent record label that has launched multiple multi-platinum #1 albums and singles from household names in the rock and alternative spaces. With offices in major cities around the globe, including New York, Los Angeles, London, Berlin, Paris, Sydney, and Nashville, to name a few, his inimitable leadership has guided artist and brand development campaigns through the creation of music, books, films, documentaries, theatrical productions, tours and television. Over the past 16 years, the aforementioned companies have been recognized as trendsetters in rock music with a current roster across Kovac’s label and management initiatives featuring the likes of Mötley Crüe, Five Finger Death Punch, Papa Roach, Asking Alexandria and Bad Wolves, among others.
Most recently, Mr. Kovac established a second division, Better Noise Films in 2019, which serves as a global independent entertainment company that develops feature films and other content, including Netflix’s smash hit The Dirt, based on the best-selling Mötley Crüe autobiography of the same name. The production house is also behind the critically acclaimed horror-thriller feature The Retaliators, which is slated for a fall 2022 theatrical and digital release, following its global festival run. He is also currently developing a stage musical adaptation of Nikki Sixx’s New York Times best-selling memoir The Heroin Diaries, alongside the author. Notably, this project continues Mr. Kovac’s advocacy work in bringing awareness to the opioid pandemic and helping artists stay clean on their paths to sobriety.
Mr. Kovac began his career in 1974 upon founding TDA Productions. He subsequently founded and served as the chief executive officer of Left Bank Management between 1985 and 2002 before establishing 624 Music soon thereafter. He has likewise been instrumental in leading so many of his former employees to serve in high profile roles with Spotify, YouTube, and other recognized organizations in sports, television and other fields over the years. Furthermore, Mr. Kovac studied at the University of Oregon.
Mr. Kovac is additionally active as a member and former board member for the Global Recovery Initiatives Foundation, which is devoted to raising money for organizations that offer support services to those in recovery from substance abuse disorders. He has also been proudly appointed as a keynote speaker for Canadian Music Week and the Radio and Records Convention. Moreover, Mr. Kovac remains affiliated with the Association of Independent Music.
Mr. Kovac’s ability to combine artist management, marketing, and storytelling across platforms has been evident and celebrated for much of his career. Most notably, he was presented with an Emmy Award for Best Documentary for Road to MSG: Mötley Crüe in 2010, for which he has a producing credit. His other documentary and filmed programming credits include Meat Loaf: In Search of Paradise, Mötley Crüe: All Excess Areas, Strong Enough to Break (Hanson), Jet: Live in the USA 2009, and Hired Gun, among others. Other honors to Mr. Kovac’s credit include recognition as a Billboard Independent Power Player by Billboard Magazine and an Artistic Excellence and Cultural Diversity Recognition Award.
A renowned industry leader, Mr. Kovac has been continuously recognized by his peers. In 2019, Sir Richard Branson honored him at the AIM Association of Independent Music Awards with special recognition for his innovation in the music industry. In his speech, Branson gave a powerful acknowledgment of Kovac’s consistent ability to stay in touch with tech trends in the music space by saying, “Allen has innovated and tested the limits in marketing, social media, ticketing, streaming, sales, and reporting, benefiting the independent community and leveling the playing field between independents and the majors…Allen has always been ahead of the curve…he’s brought data and branding closer to music.”
