Steven H. Oliver, Owner and President at Oliver and Company, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in construction.
In preparation for his career pursuits, Mr. Oliver attended the University of California, Berkeley, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in business and urban economics with a minor in engineering in 1969. Since his graduation, he has been the owner and president of Oliver and Company, formerly Oliver & Coburn. He specializes in commercial construction, industrial construction, and real estate development.
Oliver and Company began as Oliver & Coburn, founded by Charles E. Coburn and Mr. Oliver’s father, Lloyd H. Oliver, in 1946. Before taking over as the owner and president of the firm, Mr. Oliver was a racecar driver. Alongside his primary role, Mr. Oliver is the founder of The Oliver Ranch Foundation, which commissions famous artists to build immovable works of art and raises funds by opening itself to tours for nonprofit organizations. Throughout his career, he has also served as the chair of three museums, a college board, and several foundations. He was a former board chairman of the Oakland Museum of California, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, and the California College of the Arts.
Mr. Oliver is proud of the reputation for integrity and high-quality work that Oliver and Company has achieved throughout its decades in operation. The firm has built more than a thousand buildings in California’s San Francisco Bay Area, including the California College of the Arts, the Berkeley Repertory Theatre, and the Charles M. Schulz Museum. The company is the only licensed contractor in the Bay Area to have never been in court for more than 25 years. Oliver and Company has never had a dispute with any clients over anything.
Mr. Oliver has served as a board member of the United States Artists and is currently affiliated with Sutter Health. His commitment to supporting the arts stems from his desire to support his family’s interests, as his mother and sisters are artists. In the coming years, Mr. Oliver will be succeeded by his son, the chief executive officer of Oliver and Company, who has been serving the firm for more than three decades.
