Title: Architect and Urban Designer
Company: Jimenez Architects
Location: San Antonio, Texas, United States
Jose G Jimenez, an architect and urban designer at Jimenez Architects, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the field of architecture.
Hailing from over 40 years of service to the field of urban design, Mr. Jimenez found success as the owner and principal architect at Jimenez Architects, an architectural firm based in Texas, between 1980 and 2013, whereupon he retired. Among his responsibilities in this role, he handled the design process for projects, drafted construction documents, and oversaw the progress of ongoing assignments. Among the projects regularly undertaken by the firm, Jimenez Architects garnered particular expertise in the design of medical facilities, public housing, private homes and schools. Prior to his work in Texas, Mr. Jimenez managed an architectural practice in California, worked in Boston, served on behalf of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization for eight years in France and helped to plan the design of a city in Saudi Arabia with CH2M.
In addition to his work in private practice, Mr. Jimenez taught the subject of architecture as a professor in San Antonio, Texas, from 1992 until 2012. His expertise in the field was sustained by his own academic efforts, which culminated with his studies at Washington University, where he earned a master’s degree in architecture and urban design in 1976. During his studies, Mr. Jimenez also obtained a scholarship to study for two years in Greece, where he learned under the supervision of a famed city planner and developed a deep and abiding appreciation for local architectural styles.
In a career suffused with highlights, Mr. Jimenez is particularly gratified to have spent much of his professional journey engaged in restoration work for historical structures throughout the United States, particularly in San Antonio. Considering the preservation of these buildings to be his legacy, he has served as a member of the Bexar County Historical Commission and a former member of the American Institute of Architecture. Additionally, Mr. Jimenez is most proud to have written various articles for Oxford Press regarding Hispanic American architecture in the U.S.
Though he has largely retired, Mr. Jimenez hopes to remain busy by indulging in various dearly held avocations, such as watercolor painting and world travel. In particular, he aspires to revisit Greece, which stands at the top of his list of destinations.
