Prior to these positions, he served in a number of roles with American Airlines between 2008 and 2020, including as a customer service supervisor, a corporate communications senior specialist and a global corporate communications manager. As a former spokesperson for the world’s largest airline and an experienced commercial aviation insider, he is uniquely qualified to provide valuable insights and analysis on the latest industry trends. Mr. Franco began his career as a revenue management specialist with the New Jersey Turnpike Authority from 2002 to 2012 and a traffic reporter with NAVTEQ from 2004 to 2012. To support his professional ambitions, he pursued an education at The City University of New York, from which he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in broadcast journalism in 2007. Mr. Franco was subsequently certified in crisis communications by the National Transportation Safety Board in 2016.
Beyond his primary responsibilities, Mr. Franco has participated in numerous endeavors outside of his immediate professional circles. As a testament to his dedication to his community, he has been active as a volunteer with the Guide Dog Foundation for the Blind, a board member and sponsorship coordinator for City Year New York and the past president of the PRIDE Employee Resource Group. Furthermore, Mr. Franco found success with his written works, authoring a number of pieces for American Airlines Newsroom in 2019, including “Getting to Know Guyana: A Pre-Flight Celebration at JFK,” “WWII Veteran Who Guarded Tomb of the Unknown Soldier Given a Hero’s Salute,” and “A Sweet 16 to Remember.”
Attributing his success to the invaluable experiences and lessons he learned during his time at American Airlines, Mr. Franco has accrued several accolades throughout his impressive career. Notably, he was presented with the Hammer Service Award from a nonprofit organization based out of New York City for being the most dedicated organizational partner. In 2019, he was recognized with the Excellence Award for Corporate Social Responsibility Partners by City Year New York. Incredibly proud of his contributions to his community, Mr. Franco hopes to improve the communications department for the Upper Manhattan Empowerment Zone Corporation in the coming years.
