Bill Turis, Vice President at Tab Logistics Inc., has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in transportation and logistics.
Hailing from a family that owned the biggest building material trucking company in New York and New Jersey, Mr. Turis has been driven to success as a truck driver, union administrator and a logistics expert as a result of his stellar work ethic and professional passion. Drafted into the U.S. military in 1967, he subsequently began his career as a truck driver while handling newsprint operations and delivering daily news for the New York Star-Ledger and a number of publications in southern New Jersey. During this time, he became affiliated with Teamsters Local 804 in Long Island City, New York, a part of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters for which he was appointed as a business agent, a shop steward, a secretary-treasurer and the president between 1996 and 2010. Moreover, Mr. Turis previously represented Nabisco in Fair Lawn, New Jersey, at which time he had 16 trailer drivers in his employ.
Mr. Turis currently excels with Tab Logistics Inc. as both the vice president and the transportation and materials handling manager. Based out of the Brooklyn Navy Yard as well as three additional yards located around New Jersey, Tab Logistics Inc. hauls cement, Cambridge pavers, Nicolock and other building materials. He attributes his present success to learning from his family’s business, as his grandparents had started a business after immigrating to the United States from Italy. With this business, he was able to learn from their mistakes and refine his stellar work ethic. He is also noted for his ability to understand people and work with others. A skin cancer survivor, Mr. Turis is a dedicated family man, devoting his time and attention to his loving wife, Audree, as well as his four children and six grandchildren.
