Title: NDT Facilitator
Company: Gerdau Special Steel North America
Location: Jackson, Michigan, United States
Nancy Irene Fleischer, NDT facilitator at Gerdau Special Steel North America, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the engineering industry.
With over 30 years of experience to her credit, Ms. Fleischer has excelled as a leader in the field of engineering. Specializing in steel production and business administration, she has a nondestructive testing (NDT) facilitator for Gerdau Special Steel North America since 2000. In this role, she primarily supervises her team of professionals as they work on steel products, ensuring all pieces are properly manufactured before being used in cars and other machinery. While the company is primarily based in Brazil, Ms. Fleischer oversees various operations and interests in the United States, mainly working out of Jackson, Michigan, and regularly traveling to Indiana, Arkansas and Texas for other work.
Ms. Fleischer originally joined the company in 1987, working as a temporary employee until 1990, when she properly joined the business as a supervisor. She operated in this role until 2000, at which point she took on her current appointment. As part of her dedication to her profession and industry, she has also remained affiliated with The American Society for Nondestructive Testing (ASNT) since 1992. Additionally, Ms. Fleischer remains active as a civic-minded citizen, regularly volunteering with the Gerdau Group, a charitable wing of her company that focuses on community service.
As part of her vocational journey, Ms. Fleischer pursued a formal education, completing collegiate coursework at the Michigan Technological University in 1987. She subsequently earned several pertinent certifications, including level one, two and three certification in NDT from the ASNT. Furthermore, she is certified in three different methods of steel inspection; such certifications allowed her to rise to her current role as a leader for her company at the national level. As such, she is particularly proud to have earned her esteemed credentials in her field.
From an early age, Ms. Fleischer naturally gravitated towards a career working in the steel industry, as her father also previously worked at a steel mill in Jackson. After originally entering her field in various intern roles, she was inspired to further thrive in the field and help others do the same. In light of her fulfilling career, she has largely attributed her success to her positive attitude. To wit, she doesn’t accept failure and takes every opportunity to learn something new. In the coming years, Ms. Fleischer hopes to expand her certification credentials, and she looks forward to participating on the Safety Desk Prevention Team for Gerdau Worldwide.
