With many years of experience to his credit, Mr. Harley has excelled as a financial planner for Merrick Financial Group since 2014. Passionate about advocating for diversity and inclusion in financial planning, as less than 20% of financial planners within the industry come from a racial or ethnic minority group, he was likewise appointed as the lead for diversity and inclusion for Merrick Financial Group during this time. In addition to these positions, he was active as a private client advisor with JPMorgan Chase & Company from 2019 to 2022 and an investment advisor representative with Kestra Advisory Services since 2022. Mr. Harley had previously found success with Citicorp Investment Services between 1999 and 2006, advancing from a financial advisor to the senior vice president of asset management, and Smith Barney Asset Management and Legg Mason Asset Management between 2000 and 2014.

Before embarking on his professional path, Mr. Harley pursued an education at Southeastern University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in marketing in 1993. Over the course of his studies, he became a member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, for which he served as a second district committee chairman in 1988 and subsequently supported as a member of their investment committee in 2015. However, the highlight of Mr. Harley’s academic experience was obtaining his certification in Diversity and Inclusion in the Workplace from ESSEC Business School.

Beyond his primary responsibilities within his field, Mr. Harley has participated in numerous endeavors outside of his immediate professional circles. As a volunteer, he has dedicated his time and resources to Habitat for Humanity of Long Island, New York from 2012 to 2013 and First Tee since 2010. Additionally recruited as the executive director of Merrick Cares, he has further contributed to Autism Speaks Inc., The Beyond The Badge Foundation, and The American National Red Cross. Moreover, Mr. Harley has proudly been affiliated with The National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives, The Boys & Girls Club of Harlem and The Association of African American Financial Advisors.

Attributing his success to his hard work and perseverance, Mr. Harley has received several accolades throughout his impressive career. In 2021, he was recognized among the Top 50 Under 50 for Financial Advisors in the United States by the Association of African American Financial Advisors, which he cites as his most notable professional achievement to date. Likewise, he has been honored by the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement for his exemplary support within the New York Law Enforcement Community. He was also celebrated as the Father of the Year by the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity in 2018. Looking toward the future, Mr. Harley hopes to continue closing the wealth gap while witnessing the financial services industry become more diverse and inclusive in the coming years.
