Kurt Franklin Stone, founding rabbi of the Bet Chaverim Congregation, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the field of religious services.
With more than four decades of experience to his credit, Dr. Stone has cultivated a career of excellence as a civic-minded citizen and religious servant. Since 1990, he has served as the founding rabbi of the Bet Chaverim Congregation in Coral Springs, Florida. Prior to establishing his own religious group, he excelled as a rabbi for the Temple Beth Torah in Tamarac, Florida, from 1983 to 1990. Adjacent to his primary duties, Dr. Stone has also remained active as a member of the institutional review board for Advarra since 2013, where he assists in translating medical procedures and terminology into understandable English.
Throughout his time in the field, Dr. Stone has been well-regarded for his creative output as an author, having penned several noteworthy texts capturing the history of Jewish presence in the United States government. Some of his noteworthy works include his 2012 book, “The Jews of Capitol Hill: A Compendium of Jewish Congressional Members,” and his 2000 book, “The Congressional Minyan: The Jews of Capitol Hill.” He was also the editor for the 1981 book, “The American Jewish Woman: A Documentary History.” Dr. Stone has otherwise contributed over 950 political essays to scholarly journals over the course of his career.
Ever committed to civic advocacy, Dr. Stone previously worked with the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation in Boca Raton, Florida, from 1993 to 1996. Likewise, he was the director of the Sholem Aleichem Foundation in New York in 1995, and he was an institutional review board member of the Cleveland Clinic from 1995 to 2003. As part of his vocational journey, Dr. Stone also pursued a formal education. To wit, he ultimately achieved a Doctor of Divinity at Hebrew Union College in 2005, having previously received a Master of Arts in Hebrew letters from the institution in 1979.
To commemorate his achievements, Dr. Stone has been honored with several accolades, including an Excellence in Teaching Award from Florida Atlantic University in 2004 and a Lion of Judah Award from B’nai B’rith International in 1986. Attributing his success to his intellect and wisdom, as well as the support of his colleagues and family, he is notably proud to be able to give back to his community and make a difference in the lives of others.
