Edward D. Williams, president and managing partner at DEW Financial Management Group Inc., has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in portfolio management.
With 40 years of experience to his credit, Mr. Williams has excelled as president and managing partner at DEW Financial Management Group Inc. since 2010. He initiated his involvement with same as co-owner and president from 2002 to 2006. He began his career as a systems software engineer at Harris Corp from 1983 to 1997. He served as a board member at Healthy Start from 2002 to 2005 and sat on the board of directors at Diamond Community School from 2003 to 2005. At Smit Barney, he garnered a stellar reputation as national training officer from 2005 to 2007.
Mr. Williams contributed to Morgan Stanley Smith Barney as vice president of wealth management from 2005 to 2009, vice president and assistant branch manager from 2007 to 2009, and vice president and business development officer from 2009 to 2010. At the Northern Virginia Black Chamber of Commerce, Inc., he was appointed to the role of ambassador coordinator in 2013, and to the board of directors from 2014 to 2020. He found success as president of the Association of African American Financial Advisors from 2013 to 2014. Concurrent to these postings, he was active as director emeritus and chairman of the board of directors at the South Carolina State University Foundation from 2011 to 2015. He was recruited as an advisory council member for the Salvation Army from 2018 to 2019.
Before embarking on his professional path, Mr. Williams pursued an education at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science in applied mathematics in 1975. He holds certifications as a financial fiduciary from the National Association of Certified Financial Fiduciaries and as a professional plan consultant from Fi360, now Broadridge.
Beyond his responsibilities within the field, Mr. Williams has participated in numerous endeavors outside of his professional circles. He is active in his church where he mentors and coaches young men to excel as students and professionals, to be morally conscientious, and good representatives of their families. In addition to his primary vocation, he remains affiliated with various organizations in relation to his areas of expertise. He became a life member of Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity in 1974 and was vice president of the Northern Virginia Black Chamber of Commerce.
In light of his impressive undertakings, Mr. Williams has accrued several accolades throughout his career. He was presented with the Five Star Wealth Manager Award in 2022. He was bestowed several honors including Engineer of the Year by the Harris Corporation and Steward and Member of the Year. His company was recognized as Business of the Year by the Northern Virginia Black Chamber of Commerce.
